Shocking Incident: Female Tenants Allegedly Abduct Four Children In Delta State

A wave of fear and confusion has gripped the Ogwashi Uku community in Delta State’s Aniocha South Local Government Area following the disturbing disappearance of four children allegedly abducted by three unidentified women who had recently rented accommodation in the area.

According to local sources, the suspects — described as female tenants — moved into Umuokwe quarters on a temporary basis the previous Monday. By Friday, they had reportedly vanished along with four minors.

The abducted children include Ebube Nwafido, aged six, and her three-year-old sister, Miracle, both children of the same parents. The other two missing girls have been identified as Chimanda, aged seven, and Excel, popularly called “Tinubu”, aged five, from another family.

Residents claim the suspects lured the children under the guise of buying them biscuits from a well-known supermarket within the community. The women had previously approached a resident, Mrs. Bose Nwafido, asking for help in locating a place to rent. She recounted how one of them feigned illness after allegedly consuming soft drinks and requested to use their outdoor toilet.

“They seemed genuine. One of them even asked for directions to a Point-of-Sale (PoS) agent to withdraw money for rent. Later, she took my son, Ifechukwude, to show him their supposed apartment. That’s how they began mingling with children in the area,” Mrs. Nwafido narrated.

On the morning of the incident, Mrs. Nwafido reportedly left the children at home while attending a program. Around midday, some local kids returned, saying the “aunties” had promised to buy them biscuits.

As time passed and the children were not seen, neighbors grew suspicious. Upon inspecting the women’s room, they found it completely vacant — with both the suspects and children missing.

The children’s parents, particularly Kingsley Nwafido and his wife, are devastated by the unexpected event and are currently seeking answers.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that a formal investigation has commenced.
