Fallen Tree Tragedy in Benue: One Dead, Seven Injured in Ngimbo Community

A devastating tragedy struck the Ngimbo community in Mbadam Mbatierev, located within Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, on Friday, September 19, 2025. A massive tree suddenly fell, resulting in the untimely death of Mr. Chiahemba Tarpav and leaving seven other individuals with severe injuries.

The incident has thrown the community into mourning as families, friends, and neighbors grapple with the shocking loss. According to local reports, the seven injured persons were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Medical personnel are working tirelessly to ensure their recovery.

In response to the heartbreaking event, the immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family. During his visit, Dajoh expressed his deep sympathy over the loss and described the accident as “deeply saddening.” He assured the family that they are not alone in their grief.

As part of his support, Dajoh cleared the hospital bills for all seven injured victims. He also pledged financial assistance towards the funeral arrangements of the late Mr. Chiahemba, bringing some relief to the grieving family during this painful moment.

While addressing the family, Dajoh encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith, urging them to lean on God for strength and consolation. He emphasized the importance of unity in times of sorrow, highlighting that the entire community shares in their pain.

The condolence visit was carried out on his behalf by Mr. Terkuma Jiki, his Personal Assistant. He was joined by his former Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Terver Zamber, and his Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation, Mr. Antony Chie. Their presence further underscored the Speaker’s compassion and concern for the victims of the tragic occurrence.

This sudden disaster serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of community solidarity in times of grief. The people of Ngimbo are now united in prayer for the speedy recovery of the injured and for the peaceful repose of the late Mr. Chiahemba Tarpav.
