Former Governor of Sokoto State and ex-Presidential candidate, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has firmly denied allegations that he has joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Bafarawa’s media aide, Dr. Abubakar Umar, addressed the speculation on Tuesday in Sokoto, refuting claims of his involvement with the party.
According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bafarawa has distanced himself from active political participation for some time now.
The former governor criticized the circulating news as completely baseless and misleading. He clarified that he has not granted any interviews or engaged in discussions regarding party affiliations.
Emphasizing the importance of responsible journalism, he urged media professionals to verify information before dissemination. He also stated that his team is investigating the source of the misleading report.
“We are in the holy month of Ramadan, a time of fasting, reflection, and extending generosity to the less privileged. It is a period for sharing blessings, not spreading falsehoods,” Bafarawa remarked.
