Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that the turning point in their emphatic 3-0 Europa League semi-final victory over Athletic Bilbao came with the red card shown to Dani Vivian.
The English side dominated the first leg of the encounter, taking full advantage of the Spanish team’s numerical disadvantage before halftime.
Casemiro opened the scoring for United with a powerful header. Shortly afterward, the referee was summoned to the VAR monitor to review a critical moment in the game.
The result was a penalty decision in favor of Manchester United. Bruno Fernandes stepped forward and confidently converted the spot-kick before netting again to complete a commanding performance.
In a post-match interview with TNT Sports, Amorim expressed both satisfaction and caution:
“The scoreline is very good, but we also have to interpret it properly. We faced significant challenges in the early stages, and the red card undoubtedly shifted the momentum.
A single moment can completely change the direction of any game. We had an additional chance to extend the lead, but this tie is far from over. They have the ability to produce a similar outcome at Old Trafford.”
