Chelsea has regained its position in fourth place in the Premier League following a slim 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening.
After Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Leicester City and Newcastle’s draw with Brentford, Chelsea had slipped to sixth. However, a crucial goal by Enzo Fernandez helped the Blues rise back up the table.
Fernandez’s powerful header early in the second half secured the win for Chelsea in a fiercely contested London derby. The result also put pressure on Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who faces increasing scrutiny.
With the victory, Chelsea now sits one point above fifth-placed Manchester City and two points ahead of sixth-placed Newcastle. The top four teams in the Premier League earn a coveted spot in the Champions League, and fifth place may also secure a European berth, depending on how other English clubs fare in European competitions this season.
