Former England international and ex-Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has shared his thoughts ahead of the highly anticipated Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester City this weekend.
The Gunners are set to welcome Pep Guardiola’s side to the Emirates Stadium, with hopes of extending their strong run at the beginning of the new season.
Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal currently sit in second place on the Premier League table with nine points from their opening four games. That tally gives them a three-point advantage over defending champions Manchester City at this stage of the campaign.
Campbell believes that his former club, Arsenal, are showing more consistency and confidence compared to City. He tipped the North London side to edge the tie with a narrow victory.
Speaking about the fixture, Campbell said:
“I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be a 2-1 win for Arsenal. I think they’ve got the bit between their teeth. Hopefully, they’ve learned from their clash with Liverpool and can find that right balance between being solid defensively and taking risks going forward. At the end of the day, you also need to put trust in your defence.”
Arsenal fans will be eager to see if Campbell’s prediction comes true as they continue their pursuit of a strong Premier League campaign against one of the toughest opponents in English football.
