Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, has publicly stated that Moisés Caicedo is one of the best defensive midfielders globally. He emphasized Caicedo’s remarkable humility and kindness, which, in his view, set him apart from others in the game
On Thursday night, during a Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur, Enzo Fernández’s goal, with an assist from Cole Palmer, put Chelsea ahead in the 50th minute. Caicedo thought he had doubled Chelsea’s lead in the 58th minute, but his goal was ruled out by VAR.
Despite the disallowed goal, Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Spurs propelled Maresca’s team to fourth place in the Premier League, with 52 points, overtaking Manchester City, who now sits at 51 points.
While it may be premature to declare Caicedo the world’s best defensive midfielder, Maresca’s admiration for his work ethic and humility is clear. The Italian manager shared his thoughts with the press, saying:
“Moisés Caicedo is incredibly humble, kind, and undeniably talented. He’s one of the best, if not the best, defensive midfielders currently. What stands out the most is his dedication to working hard every single day. He sets the standard for others.”
