“Liverpool will score a lot and they will concede a lot too. They might be the most entertaining side in the Premier League. But that is not something I hope for, because if they play like that, it will be very difficult for them to retain their crown.

For me, they are far too open and vulnerable to the counter-attack. There is something that needs fixing.”

Carragher’s analysis underlines a growing concern: while Liverpool remain an attacking powerhouse, their defensive balance will need to improve if they are to successfully defend their Premier League title in the 2024/2025 season.
