Emir Sanusi Urges Global Leaders to End Five Million Preventable Child Deaths Annually

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has passionately appealed to world leaders to take urgent and united action to stop the tragic loss of over five million children who die every year from preventable causes.

Speaking on the alarming figures of annual child mortality across the globe, the Emir emphasized that no society can truly progress while millions of children continue to lose their lives to circumstances that can be prevented through improved healthcare, education, nutrition, and social support.

He further stressed that these deaths are not natural but the direct result of poor access to healthcare, malnutrition, poverty, and weak global responses to humanitarian challenges. According to him, it is unacceptable that in the 21st century, millions of families are still mourning children whose lives could have been saved with timely intervention.

The Emir called for greater international collaboration among governments, development partners, and humanitarian agencies. He also urged investment in healthcare systems, maternal health, child immunization, and poverty alleviation programs as effective ways to drastically reduce the statistics of child mortality.
