Emir Sanusi Appoints New Galadiman Kano And Senior Titleholders Amid Leadership Dynamics

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has appointed Alhaji Munir Sanusi Bayero as the new Galadiman Kano, along with four other prominent traditional titleholders in the emirate.

The newly appointed officials include Alhaji Kabir Tijjani Hashim, District Head of Nassarawa, now serving as Wamban Kano; Alhaji Mahmud Ado Bayero, District Head of Gwale, appointed as Turakin Kano; Adam Lamido Sanusi as Tafidan Kano; and Alhaji Ahmad Abbas Sanusi as Yariman Kano.

During the turbaning ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace on Friday, Emir Sanusi emphasized the importance of integrity, humility, and compassion in leadership.

“You have been chosen based on your track records and that of your families. Most of you have demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the emirate and our lineage and have contributed immensely to supporting the poor and advancing society. I urge you all to emulate your forebears. May God guide you in discharging your duties,” he stated.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the state, including Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, members of the Kano State Executive Council, religious and traditional leaders, family members, and well-wishers.

In a separate event, the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, conducted a turbaning ceremony at the Nassarawa mini palace, appointing Alhaji Sunusi Lamido Ado Bayero as the Galadiman Kano.

This development adds complexity to the ongoing traditional leadership dynamics in Kano, where two rival emirs continue to assert their authority.
