Addressing his hometown crowd, Eminem emphasized the importance of voting, especially with Michigan playing a pivotal role in the upcoming election. The rapper, known for his outspoken opposition to former President Donald Trump, encouraged people to use their voice and participate in the democratic process without fear of backlash. He praised Harris for standing up for freedoms that he believes are essential for the country’s future.
Eminem then introduced former President Barack Obama, who entered the stage to his iconic track “Lose Yourself.” In a light-hearted moment, Obama referenced the song, joking about the line “palms are sweaty” before reciting a few lines from the hit. The rally, aimed at boosting voter enthusiasm ahead of early voting, also featured other big names like NFL Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Obama used the opportunity to criticize Trump, questioning his fitness for leadership and likening his behavior to that of someone seeking unchecked power. He warned about the dangers of a second Trump presidency, suggesting that the country needed a fresh start.
Meanwhile, Democrats are counting on high voter turnout in Detroit, a crucial city in a state that could determine both the presidency and control of the Senate. Michigan’s role as a swing state means its voters will play a major role in shaping the country’s political future.
