Ekiti Court Sentences 37 Offenders for Flouting State Sanitation Laws

In Ado-Ekiti, a Magistrates’ Court has handed down one-month prison sentences to 37 individuals who violated Ekiti State’s Environmental Health and Sanitation Laws during last Saturday’s state-wide cleanup. The verdict, delivered by Magistrate Olubunmi Bamidele, emphasized strict adherence to the state’s sanitation regulations.

While the court granted the convicts the option of paying a fine instead of serving jail time, Magistrate Bamidele highlighted that the ruling aims to set a strong precedent and discourage future violations.

In contrast, 15 other individuals initially charged were cleared of all accusations after a thorough review of their cases.

This move underscores Ekiti State’s commitment to maintaining public cleanliness and enforcing environmental laws.
