The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared a foreign national, Elie Bitar, wanted in connection with a large-scale cryptocurrency scam associated with an online platform known as Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).

In a public notice released on Wednesday, the EFCC identified 41-year-old Bitar as the primary suspect in a digital asset fraud allegedly committed through CBEX. The scheme reportedly resulted in massive financial losses for numerous investors across Nigeria.

According to the commission’s bulletin:

“The public is hereby notified that ELIE BITAR, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on an online trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).”

Bitar’s last known residential address was listed as Eng. George Enemoh Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos State.

The EFCC is calling on members of the public who may have any relevant information about Bitar’s current location to reach out to any of its zonal offices. These offices are located in cities including Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Kano, Benin, Gombe, Sokoto, Ilorin, Makurdi, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Maiduguri, and Kaduna.

This announcement follows a recent development where four Nigerians were declared wanted in connection with the same CBEX investment scam. The individuals named include Seyi Oloyede, Emmanuel Uko, Adefowora Oluwanisola, and Adefowora Abiodun Olaonipekun.

LMSINT MEDIA had earlier reported that CBEX had allegedly siphoned over ₦1.3 trillion from investor accounts, marking it as one of the largest crypto-related financial frauds ever witnessed in the country.
