This information was disclosed by Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, during a detailed press briefing highlighting the Command’s operational achievements for the outgoing year.

Commissioner Agbonika revealed that among the 821 suspects apprehended:

• 171 suspects were apprehended for kidnapping.
• 117 persons were charged with murder.
• 62 individuals were involved in rape or sexual assault cases.
• 239 suspects were linked to cult-related activities.
• 36 individuals were caught for unlawful possession of firearms.
• 157 persons were arrested for other criminal offences.

In addition, the Command successfully rescued 377 kidnap victims, ensuring their safe return to their families, a move that underscores the police’s proactive stance against violent crimes in the state.

Recovery of Firearms, Vehicles, and Ammunition

The Edo State Police also recorded notable recoveries during the period under review, including:

• 11 stolen vehicles retrieved.
• 188 firearms of various calibres seized.
• 422 assorted ammunition recovered from criminal hideouts and suspects.
