Ebuwa Okhomina Launches The Ark Of Love Foundation To Celebrate Birthday Differently

Ebuwa ‘Bubu’ Okhomina, founder and CEO of the Ark of Love Foundation, marked her birthday this year in a unique and impactful way. Instead of the usual celebrations with fanfare, she decided to dedicate the occasion to helping the less privileged by launching the Ark of Love Foundation. The official launch took place in Lagos and was attended by key supporters, including her father, Jerome Eliaho, and the foundation’s Project Coordinator, Osaro Osagiede.

A Purpose-Driven Celebration

Reflecting on her decision, Ebuwa shared that the current economic challenges inspired her to forgo a traditional party in favor of a more meaningful gesture. “The situation in the country is tough for everyone. Instead of spending on a party, I decided to channel the funds towards supporting widows, widowers, and the less privileged,” she explained.

The Inspiration Behind the Ark of Love Foundation

Ebuwa revealed that the foundation stems from her personal struggles and experiences with hardship. “If you’ve never been hungry, you can’t truly understand what it means for someone to say they are starving. The foundation was born out of my struggles and the help I received during my most challenging times,” she said.

The Ark of Love Foundation represents her long-held passion for aiding those in pain, from orphans to disabled individuals, widows, and beyond. While she has engaged in charity work on a smaller scale over the years, the foundation now provides her with a structured platform to expand her outreach and impact.

First Steps: Touching Lives in Benin City

The foundation began its operations in Benin City by visiting Project Charilove, where it extended support to children with disabilities. Ebuwa emphasized that the foundation’s efforts are not a one-time event but part of a sustainable initiative designed to outlive her.

Broadening the Scope of Impact

Looking ahead, Ebuwa plans to extend the foundation’s reach to include:

Sponsoring brilliant students who cannot afford school fees.
Providing resources to autistic children to make learning more accessible.
Continuing support for widows, widowers, and disabled individuals.

She highlighted the biblical principle of loving one’s neighbor, quoting her father: “You don’t have to be rich to be kind.”
