Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed outrage over his official portrait displayed in Colorado’s Capitol, claiming it was intentionally distorted.

Taking to Truth Social on Sunday, Trump criticized Colorado Governor Jared Polis, urging him to remove the artwork. He described the painting as exaggeratedly unflattering compared to portraits of other presidents.

“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” Trump stated.

He further criticized the artist, pointing out that the same person had painted former President Barack Obama, but the quality of his own portrait was vastly different.

“The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older,” Trump added.

The Colorado Republican Party had previously approved the portrait, which was unveiled in August 2019 during an event hosted by Colorado Senate Republicans. The artist, Sarah A., was responsible for painting the portraits of several former U.S. presidents.
