Delta Education Officers Urge Prompt Execution of Duty Tour Allowances

The Association of Education Officers in the Delta State Civil Service (AEODS) has made a clarion call to the Delta State Government, urging it to fully execute the duty tour allowances which have already been approved for officers who embark on official assignments.

This appeal was contained in a communiqué released after the conclusion of the association’s fourth congress, which took place in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The congress was organized to thoroughly deliberate on critical matters impacting members of the association, as well as the overall conditions of service that affect education officers in the state. During these deliberations, the members of the congress gave their unflinching support to the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. They praised his administration’s educational policies and pledged to continue collaborating with the government to further strengthen the education sector across Delta State.

The communiqué, which encapsulated these resolutions, was jointly endorsed by Jemijere Unuigbe, who serves as the chairman of AEODS, and Usiakpor Lucky, who occupies the position of secretary of the association.

In addition, the AEODS resolved to maintain a harmonious working relationship with relevant institutions and agencies in order to create a more conducive environment for education officers to deliver on their mandates effectively.

As part of its efforts to recognize the invaluable contributions of its retired members, the congress directed the council to organize a send-forth ceremony. This event will serve as a mark of gratitude and appreciation for the decades of service that these retirees have rendered in support of the state’s workforce and educational development.

In line with its ongoing welfare improvement agenda, the AEODS also appealed to the executive council to liaise with the leadership of the relevant ministries. The goal of this engagement would be to establish a standardized and sustainable welfare scheme that will cater to the needs of association members.

To further boost the association’s financial standing and ensure that it can continue to meet its growing welfare commitments, the AEODS congress gave its approval for an increment in the monthly dues payable by members. The new monthly contribution has been fixed at N1,000, reflecting the stipulations within the association’s constitution.

Through these resolutions, AEODS reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the welfare of education officers while advancing collaboration with the Delta State Government to ensure continued growth and progress in the education sector.
