Popular Nigerian music icon Davido has publicly shared that he and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, are putting a pause on expanding their family. According to the Unavailable crooner, this decision is aimed at giving Chioma the space to focus on her personal and professional ambitions.
Speaking on the latest episode of Ride Along With Darryl, the award-winning Afrobeats star expressed his heartfelt appreciation for his wife’s sacrifices and noted that she needs time to pursue her passion after welcoming three children.
“We’re taking a break from childbearing. Chioma needs to explore her dreams—she’s looking at opening a restaurant and launching her own line of spices. After everything, she deserves time to live for herself,” Davido said.
This announcement follows the couple’s emotional journey. In 2023, they welcomed a set of twins—a boy and a girl—just a year after the heartbreaking loss of their first son, Ifeanyi, who tragically drowned in a swimming pool.
A Look at Their Family Timeline
Davido, who now has five children, has always expressed deep love and commitment to Chioma. Their bond has grown stronger through personal trials and shared victories, making this pause not just a personal decision, but a moment of empowerment for Chioma.
Chioma’s Ambitions Beyond Motherhood
Chioma, also known as Chef Chi, has long expressed interest in culinary ventures. From food blogging to event catering, her passion for cooking has always shone through. The couple’s break from having more kids will allow her to fully launch her long-anticipated restaurant and spice product line.
