Afrobeats sensation Davido has joined the growing chorus of Nigerians calling for the release of outspoken social media figure VeryDarkMan, who was recently detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to LMSINT MEDIA, VeryDarkMan—a widely recognized online commentator known for his bold takes on social matters—was arrested last Friday. The EFCC has yet to officially disclose the reason behind his detention.

Earlier in the day before his arrest, VeryDarkMan had posted an update revealing his intention to visit a GTBank branch in Abuja. His visit was reportedly to address a suspicious deduction from his mother’s account, a matter he said needed urgent attention.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether the EFCC apprehended him inside the GTBank premises or elsewhere outside the branch.

This unexpected arrest has sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms. Both fans and notable personalities have taken to the internet to express concern, with many demanding justice and transparency.

Reacting to the controversy, award-winning artist Davido took to his official X account (formerly Twitter) to voice his support for VeryDarkMan. In his statement, he emphasized the power of public support and noted how the solidarity displayed across social media platforms was inspiring.

“Outside all the noise it’s good to see that the good one does actually impacts lives and people actually appreciate! The support I’m seeing for VDM everywhere is encouraging, makes one want to do more for the masses. FREE MY GUY,” Davido wrote.
