Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has named Mr. Linus Obogo as his new Chief Press Secretary (CPS) and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, replacing Mr. Gill Nsa.
Gill Nsa, the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River chapter, previously succeeded Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche in May 2024. Ogbeche reportedly encountered multiple challenges during his tenure as Chief Press Secretary, which led to his eventual dismissal.
Following his removal, Ogbeche was reassigned to Abuja, his prior base, to continue serving as a media aide to Governor Otu.
Mr. Obogo, who previously worked with ThisDay newspaper, now becomes the third individual to occupy the CPS role since Governor Otu assumed office—marking three different appointees in just two years of the administration.
Before this latest appointment, Obogo served as Deputy to Nsa and had earlier functioned in a similar capacity under former Governor Ben Ayade’s administration.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nsa has been designated as the Special Adviser on Public Affairs.
These new designations were confirmed in an official letter dated June 17, 2025, and signed by Professor Anthony Owan-Enoh, Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
