Dr. Emana Duke Ambroose-Amawhe, who served as the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections in Cross River State, has officially announced her resignation from the party.

Her resignation was contained in a letter dated March 28, 2025, addressed to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State. She made it clear that her decision was immediate and stemmed from careful consideration.

Why Emana Ambroose-Amawhe Resigned from PDP

In her statement, Ambroose-Amawhe expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under the PDP and for the platform the party provided her to engage with the people of Cross River State. She acknowledged the experiences and relationships gained during her time in the party but emphasized that after thorough reflection on the party’s current direction, she had chosen to move on.

Her statement read in part:

“I am writing to formally resign my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect. I deeply appreciate the privilege of serving as the Deputy Governorship Candidate and for the trust the party placed in me. However, after much reflection on the state of affairs within the party, I believe it is time to step aside. While I may be leaving the PDP, my commitment to the development of Cross River State and Nigeria remains unwavering.”

Emana’s Political Journey

Dr. Ambroose-Amawhe was the Deputy Governorship Candidate for the PDP in Cross River State during the 2023 elections, running alongside Senator Sandy Onor. Before this, she aspired to represent the Bakassi/Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the PDP.

Although she has stepped away from the party, Ambroose-Amawhe remains dedicated to public service and is expected to continue contributing to the progress of Cross River State in other capacities.
