Conference League Final: Isco Reveals Why Real Betis Suffered 4-1 Loss to Chelsea

Real Betis midfielder Isco has conceded that their inability to capitalize on a dominant first-half performance ultimately led to their crushing 4-1 defeat to Chelsea FC in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday night.

During a post-match interview following the match held in Poland, Isco reflected on how Betis allowed the Premier League side to take control after the break, admitting the team lost momentum and paid dearly for it.

Despite taking an early lead through Abde Ezzalzouli, the Spanish club failed to extend their advantage, leaving the door open for a second-half comeback by the London side.

Isco remarked,

“We had a strong first half where Chelsea barely created anything. The match was in our hands, but we didn’t make the most of the opportunity. That has cost us throughout the season. In a European final, every mistake is magnified.”

Chelsea took full advantage in the second half, netting four goals courtesy of Enzo Fernández, Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho, and Moisés Caicedo, dismantling Betis’ defense with relentless pace and precision.

Isco added,

“In the second half, they completely overwhelmed us. It’s a tough result to accept.”
