1 minute, 48 seconds Read

The Nigeria Police Force made significant strides in maintaining public safety during Christmas celebrations by apprehending 22 suspected criminals, including armed robbers, kidnappers, and cultists, across various states in the country. The operation also led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and disrupted criminal activities targeting fun-seekers during the festive season.

Christmas Day Arrests in Lagos
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, police operatives from the Lagos State Command responded to a distress call at about 1 a.m. on Christmas Day. A group of hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons was reportedly operating in the Safejo area of Amukoko, Lagos.

Swift action by the police resulted in the arrest of three suspects: Emmanuel Okoli, Ogunde Tejiri, and Emmanuel Orji. Weapons used in their robbery attempts were seized, and efforts are underway to apprehend other fleeing gang members.

Kaduna State Success Against Kidnapping
In another operation, police operatives from the Saminaka Division of the Kaduna State Command arrested Sule Muhammad at about 8 p.m. on the same day. Muhammad, a member of a notorious kidnapping gang, had evaded capture since August 16, 2024, following the arrest of his accomplices.

During the operation, a fabricated AK-47 rifle was recovered, and Muhammad’s cooperation is aiding ongoing efforts to capture other members of his gang and recover additional weapons from their hideout.

Nationwide Crackdown on Criminal Activities
The commendable efforts of police operatives extended beyond Lagos and Kaduna. Similar arrests and operations were carried out in Delta, Ogun, Katsina, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Imo State during the Christmas period.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) lauded the officers involved for their vigilance and dedication to public safety, particularly during the festive season. He urged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Public Safety and Community Vigilance
This nationwide crackdown highlights the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding lives and property during critical times. The public is encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information to enhance security efforts.
