Renowned American R&B artist, Chris Brown, has been remanded in custody by the Manchester Magistrates’ Court over allegations of assault.
The incident unfolded on Friday, where presiding judge Joanne Hirst denied bail to the singer, ordering that he remain in custody.
Justice Hirst noted that the seriousness of the case places it outside the jurisdiction of the Magistrates’ Court, prompting the transfer of the matter to Southwark Crown Court in London.
The upcoming court session has been scheduled for June 13, 2025, following the adjournment of the initial hearing.
According to a report by LMSINT MEDIA, Brown was taken into custody on Thursday at The Lowry Hotel in Salford. His arrest stems from a reported bottle attack that allegedly occurred at Tape nightclub in Mayfair during 2023.
The singer faces charges of grievous bodily harm, after claims emerged that he struck music executive Abe Diaw with a bottle during the nightclub altercation.
As a result of the incident, Diaw filed a civil suit seeking $16 million in compensation for the injuries and associated damages he claims to have suffered.
