China Affirms Strong Ties with Russia: ‘Friends Forever, Never Enemies’

1 minute, 55 seconds Read

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reaffirmed China’s unwavering friendship with Russia, stating that the two nations will remain allies and never adversaries.

Wang made this declaration during his official visit to Moscow, where he also expressed optimism regarding improving relations between the United States and Russia.

Strengthening Strategic Cooperation

“The principle of ‘friends forever, never enemies’ serves as a robust legal foundation for advancing strategic cooperation to a higher level,” Wang stated.

According to Daily Post, Wang’s visit is part of a three-day diplomatic mission focused on deepening strategic collaboration. However, his trip is taking place amid uncertainty regarding negotiations to secure a ceasefire in Ukraine and criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Russian and Ukrainian leaders.

China-Russia No-Limits Partnership

China and Russia declared a no-limits strategic partnership just days before Russian President Vladimir Putin deployed thousands of troops to Ukraine in February 2022. Over the past decade, Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with Putin more than 40 times, strengthening bilateral ties and fostering cooperation on global matters, including Taiwan, Ukraine, and their mutual geopolitical rival, the United States.

On Monday, the Kremlin announced that Putin would meet with Wang, who is also scheduled to engage in discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The Role of Global Powers in Stability

Wang emphasized that in today’s global landscape, major powers must act as stabilizing forces. He welcomed the recent developments in U.S.-Russia relations, viewing them as a positive step toward maintaining international balance.

In a statement from the Kremlin, Russia and the United States are reportedly working on ideas for a potential peace agreement in Ukraine, alongside efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.

Since assuming office in January, Donald Trump has taken a more conciliatory approach toward Russia. Wang acknowledged this shift, describing it as a step toward stabilizing major power dynamics and bringing optimism to the global political climate.

Additionally, Wang dismissed claims that Trump is attempting to align Russia against China, condemning such ideas as outdated and rooted in confrontational bloc politics.
