Chelsea Make Final Decision on Levi Colwill Replacement as Sevilla Reject Juanlu Bid

Chelsea Football Club have confirmed they will not be returning to the transfer market in search of a replacement for injured defender Levi Colwill, despite speculation following his recent setback.

According to trusted football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have not triggered any emergency measures or short-term recruitment plans to sign another central defender. Instead, the club is placing full confidence in their existing defensive options — including their latest acquisition Jorrel Hato, who is capable of operating both as a centre-back and a left-back.

Colwill’s Injury Confirmed

On Thursday, Chelsea officially announced that Colwill will miss the majority of the 2025/26 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Medical scans revealed the extent of the damage, prompting the 22-year-old England international to undergo surgery immediately.

The injury occurred earlier this week during pre-season training, shortly after Colwill had rejoined the squad for preparations ahead of the new campaign. The loss is considered a significant blow to Chelsea’s defensive depth, but the management is confident in the squad’s ability to adapt without seeking an external replacement.

Sevilla Reject Juanlu Offer from Napoli

Meanwhile, in Spain, LaLiga side Sevilla have rejected a €17 million formal bid from Napoli for their young full-back Juanlu.

As per Romano’s report, Sevilla have set their asking price at €20 million, in addition to a sell-on clause in any potential deal. The Spanish club remains firm in their valuation, signalling they are in no rush to part ways with the talented defender unless their demands are met.

For Chelsea fans, the decision to rely on the current roster — rather than diving back into the market — reflects a calculated approach, especially with versatile players like Hato providing cover. For Napoli, negotiations with Sevilla will need to intensify if they hope to secure Juanlu before the transfer window closes.
