Chelsea in Talks with Ajax Over Summer Deal for Versatile Defender Jorrel Hato

The representative of Ajax’s rising star, Jorrel Hato, has officially confirmed that negotiations are ongoing between Chelsea and Ajax regarding a potential summer move for the 19-year-old defender.

In recent days, Hato has drawn strong interest from Chelsea, with the West London club keen on securing the services of the young Dutchman.

The teenage talent has gained attention across Europe largely due to his ability to function effectively in multiple defensive roles. He is comfortable both as a left-back and a central defender, making him a valuable asset for top-tier clubs like Chelsea.

Speaking in an interview with Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf, Hato’s agent Humphry Nijman provided confirmation that there is genuine contact between the two clubs.

“Yes, it’s true Chelsea have contacted Ajax,” Nijman told De Telegraaf.
“The only thing I can say is that Jorrel is now in talks with Chelsea.”

The Premier League side are believed to have tabled an offer worth £44 million (€50 million) for Hato, but reports suggest Ajax are holding out for around £52 million (€60 million) to release the player.

Despite the negotiations, Hato remains under contract at Ajax until 2028, making the Dutch club firm in their valuation of the player.

This transfer could mark another major step for Chelsea in their ongoing efforts to strengthen their defensive line with young, versatile talent.
