Chelsea Confirms Loan Moves for Mamadou Sarr and Leo Castledine Ahead of 2025/26 Season

Chelsea Football Club has officially confirmed loan transfers for two of their emerging talents, Mamadou Sarr and Leo Castledine, as the West London club continues to reshape its squad structure for the 2025/26 campaign.

According to an official announcement published on the club’s website, highly-rated French centre-back Mamadou Sarr has completed a season-long loan move to Ligue 1 outfit RC Strasbourg. The 20-year-old defender joined Chelsea from Strasbourg earlier in June and was quickly integrated into the squad for the prestigious 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Sarr, a standout performer with France’s Under-20 national team, made an immediate impact by making his first-team debut in Chelsea’s victory over ES Tunis during the tournament. He featured in every matchday squad, playing a vital role as the Blues went on to secure the Club World Cup title.

Meanwhile, young midfielder Leo Castledine is set to continue his development on loan at Huddersfield Town for the entirety of the 2025/26 season. Castledine, who has been part of the Chelsea setup since his Under-15 days, made his senior debut during a Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Middlesbrough in January 2024.

At just 19 years old, this will mark Castledine’s second loan experience, following a brief spell at League One side Huddersfield Town towards the end of the last campaign. The loan extension is expected to provide him with more consistent senior minutes and a chance to hone his midfield prowess.
