Chelsea Confirm Long-Term Deal for Olutayo Subuloye

Chelsea Football Club have officially announced that highly rated young defender Olutayo Subuloye has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract.

The agreement, confirmed on Friday, will keep Subuloye at Stamford Bridge until at least 2030, marking a significant show of confidence in the defender’s development and long-term potential.

Subuloye initially joined Chelsea’s Academy at the Under-12 level after making the switch from Brighton & Hove Albion. Since arriving in west London, the defender has steadily risen through the club’s youth system, earning praise for his composure, discipline, and defensive intelligence.

During the 2023/24 season, Subuloye played a key leadership role as captain of Chelsea’s Under-16 side, guiding the team to the Premier League national final. His performances at that level paved the way for a smooth transition into the Under-18 squad, where he became a regular feature in the defensive setup.

Beyond youth football, Subuloye has also gained valuable exposure at a higher competitive level. He featured for Chelsea’s Under-21 team, taking part in both Premier League 2 fixtures and matches in the EFL Trophy, experiences that have further sharpened his tactical awareness and match readiness.

Chelsea’s decision to secure the defender on a long-term deal highlights the club’s ongoing commitment to nurturing academy talents and integrating them into the club’s future plans.
