Chelsea and Manchester United Decline Alexander Isak Transfer Request Despite Newcastle Exit Move

In a recent development in the ongoing summer transfer window, two English Premier League giants, Chelsea and Manchester United, have both reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign Newcastle United’s striker, Alexander Isak, despite his expressed interest in leaving the club.

Isak, who has been left out of Newcastle’s squad for their pre-season tour of the Far East, had made his intentions to depart St. James’ Park clear. However, his bid to secure a move to another top Premier League club has not gone as expected.

EPL Clubs Uninterested Despite Player’s Willingness to Exit

While it’s common for top talents to receive immediate interest after submitting a transfer request, Isak, now 25 years old, seems to have hit a stumbling block. Neither Chelsea nor Manchester United—two of the most active and financially capable English clubs in recent windows—are showing any genuine interest in securing his services.

Chelsea Reportedly Content with Current Striking Options

According to close club sources, Chelsea FC are currently satisfied with their attacking depth. The Blues already have young talents like Liam Delap and the promising Nicolas Jackson, who recently made a notable impression. In addition to these, the West London club secured the signing of Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, further strengthening their forward options.

Internal speculation from within the Chelsea camp suggests that Isak’s name is potentially being floated in connection with the club to inflate his transfer valuation, rather than from genuine interest on their part.

Manchester United Also Withdraw from Pursuit

Similarly, Manchester United are reportedly not considering a move for the Swedish striker. The Red Devils are believed to be distancing themselves not only from Isak but also from other high-cost transfer options, including Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

One major factor influencing United’s decision is financial restraint. Having already splashed out over £130 million on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, the Old Trafford side are unlikely to meet Newcastle’s valuation of £150 million for Isak. This valuation gives a significant advantage to potential suitors like Liverpool or other EPL contenders with more available transfer funds this summer.
