The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families and associates of those who lost their lives in the recent explosion at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) factory in Kaduna. He equally extended his prayers and good wishes for the swift recovery of those who sustained injuries during the tragic event.
According to reports from LMSINT Media, the unfortunate incident, which happened on Saturday, claimed the life of one person while leaving several others with varying degrees of injuries.
Residents within Kaduna metropolis and nearby communities reported hearing the loud blast, which initially caused widespread anxiety until it was later confirmed by authorities that the explosion originated from the DICON manufacturing facility.
In an official statement released by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Defence Headquarters reassured Nigerians that the situation was fully under control, urging the public to remain calm as there was no immediate threat to public safety.
General Musa stressed that the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria has always adhered to strict safety measures in its operations. He assured that a comprehensive investigation had been ordered to determine the root cause of the explosion. According to him, the findings will help forestall future occurrences of similar incidents.
The CDS further emphasized that residents living around the affected area should feel safe, noting that adequate measures have already been implemented to secure the factory and its surroundings.
