Authorities in Illinois have confirmed the discovery of the remains of Olasinmibo Abosede, a Nigerian woman popularly known as Sinmi, who had been reported missing since July 30.
Investigators revealed that the clothing found on the deceased corresponded with what the 42-year-old was last seen wearing on the day of her disappearance.
Timeline of Disappearance
Police Chief Jason Arres of Naperville stated:
“While we believe the recovered individual to be Sinmi, the official identification will be confirmed by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.”
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities emphasized that there is currently no indication of foul play in her death. However, an autopsy is scheduled to be performed by the coroner’s office to determine the official cause.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by Naperville Police and Forest Preserve District Police.
Community Search and Condolences
Following her disappearance, a wide search was organized involving police teams, volunteers, and canine tracking units across the forest preserve.
David Pederson, Chief of the Forest Preserve District Police, expressed his sympathy:
“Our hearts go out to Sinmi’s family, her friends, and everyone who cared about her during this very painful time.”
