President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and US President Joe Biden spoke over the phone Tuesday on law enforcement concerns and the newly freed Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan.
During a briefing to State House Correspondents, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, revealed that the phone conversation lasted almost half an hour. “The call was about the cooperation between the two nations in terms of law enforcement and law enforcement agencies, as well as the release of one of the suspects of the cryptocurrency exchange company that you are all aware of,” he stated.
The President also expressed gratitude to the United States for its cooperation and engagement in many areas pertaining to African and West African security. For President Tinubu, President Biden reassured him that this is a collaboration because Africa has the key to the world’s destiny.
The topic of a permanent seat in the UN Security Council was also discussed by the leaders, and Biden gave his word that the US is dedicated to seeing Africa have a permanent seat and does not understand why Nigeria should have one of those seats.
