Benue State Government Rewards Super Falcons Star Francisca Ordega with ₦50 Million, Apartment, and Street Naming Honor

The Benue State Government has officially honoured Nigerian football icon Francisca Mlumun Ordega (OON) in recognition of her exceptional contributions to sports, particularly her outstanding performance at the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

During a grand state reception hosted in Makurdi on Wednesday night, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia announced a monumental package of rewards for the Super Falcons winger. These include a cash prize of ₦50 million, the naming of a street in her honour, and the allocation of a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment situated in the central area of Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The celebration, meticulously organised by the state government, served as a tribute to Ordega’s contributions to Nigeria’s victorious campaign at WAFCON 2024, where the Super Falcons once again cemented their dominance in African women’s football.

Governor Alia, while addressing the gathering, lauded Ordega for her dedication, professionalism, and impact on sports development. He expressed that her achievements not only elevate Benue State on the global sports map but also serve as an enduring inspiration to aspiring young athletes, particularly female footballers, across Nigeria.

“Francisca Ordega has made Benue State and Nigeria proud. Her commitment, discipline, and talent deserve to be celebrated. This is our little way of saying thank you,” the governor said.
