NDLEA Seizes Cocaine Worth N4bn At Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently intercepted cocaine worth over N4 billion at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos. NDLEA operatives seized 845 wraps of cocaine, weighing 18.72 kg, which were allegedly smuggled by an international drug syndicate operating between Brazil, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. The contraband, valued at N4.49 billion, was hidden in the waste compartments of two rear lavatories on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa to Lagos on October 29, 2024. The NDLEA, alerted to the suspicious packages, retrieved the drugs, wrapped in nine polythene bags. Around 30 suspects have been interrogated in connection with the case. Reports indicate that couriers transported the drugs from Brazil to Ethiopia through ingestion and later excreted them in Addis Ababa, where they were collected by other traffickers. These traffickers attempted to smuggle the drugs into Nigeria but were foiled with help from the airline and other airport partners. In related news, NDLEA also intercepted other illicit drugs, including 2.928 kg of cocaine, cannabis, and tramadol 225 mg, concealed in body cream containers and art pieces intended for export to Australia, UAE, and the UK via courier companies in Lagos. Obi’s remark on turning church vigils into night shifts sparks mixed reactions.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has stirred debate among Nigerians with his suggestion to turn church vigils into night shifts to boost productivity. While some see his idea as a push toward increased productivity, others view it as disrespectful to religious traditions.Among those criticizing Obi’s remarks is Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, son of Mount Zion Faith Drama Ministry founder Mike Bamiloye. In an Honest Bunch podcast clip, Obi stated that Nigeria’s poverty and unproductivity stem from excessive focus on politics and religion. He argued that church attendance from Monday to Friday should be reduced in favor of work shifts. Rhapsody of Realities, November 3rd 2024.WATER BAPTISM AND THE HOLY COMMUNION

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come (1 Corinthians 11:26). There are those who ask if it is right to partake of the Holy Communion when you’re not water-baptized. First, in Christianity, we have sacraments like the Holy Communion and Water Baptism. In Mark 16:15-16, the Lord Jesus charged the disciples to spread the Gospel to every corner of the earth and to every person, emphasizing the importance of Water Baptism: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:16). In Matthew 28:19, He said, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Then, in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Paul shares an important revelation he received from the Lord. He recounts the events of the night the Lord Jesus was betrayed, highlighting the profound significance of the Holy Communion. In consequence, Water Baptism and the Holy Communion are not dependent on each other; you can partake in the Holy Communion even if you’ve not been baptized in water. The Bible doesn’t stipulate that you can only take the Holy Communion if you’ve been baptized in water. However, in many churches, the Communion is often reserved for those who are baptized members. There’s nothing wrong with this practice. The reason many follow this guideline is that baptism is viewed as a sign of one’s full belief and commitment to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It signifies a complete acceptance of the Gospel. In the Early Church, during the great persecution, if individuals were asked about their faith and they denied it, their baptism was used as evidence of their true commitment to Christ, often leading to their persecution.Churches typically do not baptize non-believers. This is why many churches believe that true Christians should be baptized and therefore may only serve Communion to those who have been baptized. The practice is commendable and aligns with the church’s desire to honour the significance of baptism in the Christian faith. *CONFESSION* Dear Father, I recognize the significance of the Holy Communion and Water Baptism as symbols of my faith and commitment to you. Every opportunity to partake in the Holy Communion is my declaration of my victory over Satan, the world and its elements; a declaration that the Lord Jesus bequeathed His wealth, rights, and privileges to me, a will which is now in force. I have eternal victory and dominion over sin, sickness, disease, death and the devil, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. *FURTHER STUDY: Matthew 28:19-20* Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen. *Acts 2:41-42* Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. *1 Corinthians 11:23-25* For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the [same] night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also [he took] the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me. I live a life of faith. I’m not moved by what I feel, see, or hear. I am only moved by God’s Word. The presence of the Holy Ghost in my life gives strength to my spirit, soul, and body. I am replenished and built up by the Word. I walk in the full benefits of the salvation that Jesus Christ wrought for me, including health, peace, prosperity, and all-round success. Every day of my life is full of God’s glory, beauty, excellence, and grace. Every day God loads me with great benefits. In His favor my horn is exalted. I live above infirmities and the harsh elements of this world because the One who lives in me is greater than he that’s in this world. Nothing and no one can hurt or come against me successfully, for I have the unconquerable life of God. Satan and the powers of darkness are under my feet; therefore, I have nothing to fear. The impulses of fear have been completely disabled from my life. Irrespective of the situation, I’m bold and courageous, speaking the Word in faith. Everything connected to me is infused with eternal life and divine energy. Everything about me exudes the life of Christ; therefore, my health does not fail, rather, it is ever radiant and ever flourishing. There is no failure in my body systems; no heart failure, no kidney failure, no lung failure, no liver failure. All the organs and systems of my body are functioning perfectly well. There is perfect soundness in my body. I’m seated with Christ, far above all principality, power, might, dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come! I’m exalted with Him in glory; I know who I am: chosen, royal and peculiar! My life is the expression and manifestation of the glory and righteousness of Christ. Therefore, I am superhuman! I have the life of Christ at work in my spirit, soul, and body. I walk in supernatural strength, supernatural health, supernatural supply, and supernatural abilities every day. My progress is unstoppable because I cannot be limited by sickness,

FG pledged to put an end to kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism—Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other associated crimes throughout the nation. He said this Saturday during the Federal University of Dutsinma’s 9th Convocation ceremony in Katsina State. However, the President stated that civilians can also contribute to the fight against insecurity by giving security personnel information that will help them in their efforts. On behalf of Federal University, Dutste, Jigawa State, Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulkarim Mohammed, the President urged young people to take advantage of the Nigerian Loan Scheme, which has disbursed more over N70 billion in loans. Tinubu reminded Nigerians that Nigeria and Nigerians are what will improve the country, not the president or those in positions of authority. “I want to reassure all Nigerians that the administration is totally dedicated to fighting and defeating all criminal activities in Nigeria, including banditry, abduction, and terrorism. But we all share responsibility for security. President Tinubu said, “I implore all Nigerians to cooperate with the government by providing security agents with pertinent information about suspicious individuals, miscreants, and other criminal elements.” In his earlier remarks, Prof. Armaya’u Bichi, the vice chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma, outlined the institution’s difficulties, citing insecurity as the main issue. “As we are aware, the security situation in and around Dutsin-Ma in recent times has forced us to abandon the main campus and crowd ourselves at the university’s take-off campus, which is sorely lacking in structures and facilities to accommodate the 14 faculties and a large number of staff and students,” Bichi said. In addition, Dandeson Douglas, the Chairman of Convocation and Chancellor of FUDMA, King Jaja of Opobo, stated that the organization is actively working to increase its Internally Generated Revenue. The university has set up Pure Water, a Microfinance Bank, and a Consultancy Unit. The Chancellor of the university emphasized the need to enhance the institution’s internally generated revenue (IGR) through initiatives like a factory, primary and secondary schools, and a printing press. He stated his commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government, philanthropic organizations, stakeholders, private entities, NGOs, and alumni to secure support for the university’s needs. Douglas also raised concerns about ongoing security issues affecting the student community, stating that it is his duty as Chancellor to highlight these challenges. He noted that the security situation has severely hindered activities at the main campus, forcing events, including the Convocation Ceremony, to take place at a less equipped take-off campus. Simeone: After fatal floods, there’s no use in playing La Liga games.

Following fatal flooding in the eastern region of Spain, Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico Madrid, stated on Saturday that it makes “no sense” to play La Liga games this weekend. Devastating flash floods struck the Valencia region this week, killing at least 211 people. Champions Simeone stated that all games ought to have been canceled, however Real Madrid’s trip to Valencia and Villarreal’s game against Rayo Vallecano were postponed. Before Atletico’s Sunday matchup with Las Palmas, Simeone told reporters, “It’s obvious that it makes no sense, what is happening is something that’s so hard.” Seeing everyone stepping out into the streets to lend a hand, however they can, is heartwarming. “It’s terribly awful that some individuals are having a horrible time, and we are in a location where they advise us to keep on, and here we are. Hansi Flick, the coach of Barcelona, added that it could have been appropriate to cancel all of the games. Before Barcelona’s rivalry match against Espanyol on Sunday, Flick told reporters, “It’s not easy to make the decision (about) what to do, we started this (round) yesterday.” It’s tragic in my opinion; this happened in Germany three years ago as well, and it’s terrible to witness. “Of course, we will support the region if we can; the league must decide on the other matters.” When asked if he would have favored delaying the entire round of La Liga matches, Flick responded in the affirmative. “Perhaps if I had the ability to choose, I would do that, it’s a disaster for Spain and this area, so perhaps,” the German coach remarked. On social networking site X, La Liga president Javier Tebas addressed those who were against the decision to play eight top division games this weekend. The La Liga leader tweeted, “We believe that the best message in the awful situation that Spain is going through is not to stop, apart from in the affected areas.” “The best message is to be on the front lines at work, just like employees in every other sector, generating resources, bringing attention to the situation, and telling the world that we must all work together to move forward.” READ ALSO: At least 51 people are killed by floods in the Valencia region of Spain. Jose Castillejo, a former Valencia defender, was one of 158 people killed in Spain’s flash floods. This weekend’s La Liga games have a moment of silence before to kickoff in remembrance of the victims. The Spanish league announced on Thursday that it is collaborating with the Red Cross organization to raise money for disaster relief during this weekend’s top two level fixtures. Abba Yusuf: We’ll do everything possible to get arraigned minors back to Kano

The governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, has stated that his administration will take all necessary steps to repatriate minors who are thought to be from the state. On Friday, a number of suspects—including children—were charged with involvement in the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations. People from Abuja, Kaduna, Gombe, Jos, Katsina, and Kano were reportedly among those detained. They are accused of treasonous felony, arson, and terrorism. At a federal high court in Abuja, where the demonstrators were arraigned, four youngsters passed out and were hurried away. Each of the 72 suspects was later given N10 million bail by the court. Many Nigerians, including leading politicians and civil society, have condemned the arraignment of minors. Rimazonte Ezekiel, the federal government prosecutor, claimed that all the arraigned persons were adults andthat “married men make up the majority of them.” However, the youngest individual arraigned is 13 years old, according to Nigeria Police Force (NPF) spokeswoman Muyiwa Adejobi. On his X page, the Kano governor responded to the incident by stating that Haruna Dederi, the Kano attorney general and commissioner of justice, has been instructed to act immediately. “The appearance of teenagers in court today in Abuja, some of whom are thought to be from Kano, has caught my attention,” Yusuf stated. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained Julius Anelu, the Accountant General of Edo State, along with two other government officials as the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki in Edo State comes to a close. According to reports, the officials who were arrested were detained for allegedly making large withdrawals from the State’s derivation account. Approximately two to three people, including the state’s accountant general, were arrested. We have been looking into the Godwin Obaseki has been the state’s governor since 2022, but certain withdrawals from the state’s derivation account led to this most recent arrest. “Huge sums of money were taken out. For example, N24.6 billion was deposited into the account a few weeks ago. However, the account had roughly N14 billion left in less than a week. We have to act fast to save the state.
