The landlords assert they had already begun the process of complying with the government’s directive on building documentation, in line with the amnesty program allowing property owners to regularize permits and other necessary documents. Despite their ongoing compliance efforts, landlords such as Engr. Mike Abulatan and Mr. Bodunde Adeyinka expressed shock at the sudden action. They reported that their fully completed, tenant-occupied buildings were sealed without prior notice or lawful justification. But there’s also the Kingdom of Heaven, which is the earthly manifestation of the Kingdom of God, set up by Jesus. So, when Jesus came and said, “The Kingdom of God is at hand” (Matthew 3:2, Mark 1:15), He was referring to the Kingdom of Heaven that He had come to establish or set up in the earth. This is the Kingdom that Jesus began to preach and to make known, something others couldn’t do because they hadn’t entered it themselves—it was promised to them. But Jesus preached it and then brought us into it through the New Birth. Hallelujah! Colossians 1:12-13 says, “Giving thanks unto the Father…Who hath…translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” So, today, the same Kingdom that Jesus Himself preached is what He’s commissioned us to preach to the ends of the earth: “And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God…” (Luke 9:2). But one day, very soon, this Kingdom, which is in the spirit realm right now, will manifest in this world and take over this world. SERAP highlighted the presidency’s N9.4 billion allocation for travels, meals, and catering, alongside the National Assembly’s N344.85 billion budget, urging that the savings be redirected to reduce Nigeria’s budget deficit. SERAP’s Key Requests Constitutional Violations and Public Interest In a letter dated December 21, 2024, signed by SERAP Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare, the group stated that excessive spending contradicts the Nigerian Constitution. The organization emphasized that such allocations are unjustifiable, given the country’s economic challenges and reliance on borrowing to fund the 2025 budget. Unnecessary Increases in Budget Allocations SERAP criticized the proposed increase in the presidency’s budget for “rehabilitation and repairs of fixed assets,” which jumped from N14 billion in 2024 to N26 billion in 2025.
