What are your expectations, plans, targets, goals and aims for the incoming year? You can put yourself on the right track and fuel your inspiration by taking time to meditate on the Word. Jeremiah, like the psalmist, in Jeremiah 20:9, decided not to speak any more about God, but the fire within him—God’s Word in his heart—burned so intensely that he couldn’t hold back: “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.” Jeremiah 5:14 says, “Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.” Also, in Jeremiah 23:29, the Bible says, “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” God’s Word is described as fire and a hammer that breaks rocks into pieces. You’re already filled with the Holy Spirit; therefore, the fire of God is in your spirit. But to ignite the fire, you must meditate on the Word. When the Word is in your heart as a burning fire, you cannot keep quiet; you’ll always maintain inspiration. We just read from two prophets, David and Jeremiah, who knew how to burn for God, and they shared their secret: meditating on God’s Word. It emboldens you to speak the Word with passion and conviction. So, as you pray and fast in preparation for the coming year, make sure you consciously meditate on God’s Word. Pray fervently in tongues, and meditate on the Word until you get to the point where you release this “fire” from within you and enforce the victory the Lord Jesus Christ has wrought in your behalf. Ogun Police Apprehend Suspects in ₦1.3M Motorcycle Theft Case The Ogun State Police Command announced the arrest of two suspects for allegedly stealing a ₦1.3 million Bajaj motorcycle with registration number DGB 629 VC, belonging to a man identified as Francis Ayinde. The suspects, identified as Eje Benson, also known as Kenny, and his accomplice, Ominiyi Austin, were apprehended by officers from the Ago-Iwoye Division. Incident ReportAccording to the State Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the case was reported on December 26, 2024, by one Akinola Musa. Musa explained that Benson had been entrusted with the motorcycle in October 2024 for commercial use under an agreement to pay back ₦25,000 weekly. However, Benson reportedly claimed the motorcycle was stolen. Investigations revealed that he allegedly conspired with Austin to sell the bike to Emmanuel Nwosu in Ijebu Ode for ₦800,000. The transaction was conducted using forged photocopy documents, a falsified phone number, and a fake signature. Details of the ArrestFollowing the sale, Benson fled to Benue State after paying Austin a ₦60,000 commission. The Ago-Iwoye police tracked and apprehended Benson, and the stolen motorcycle has since been recovered. The statement from SP Odutola partly reads: “The divisional police officer of Ago-Iwoye has cracked a case involving the theft of a Bajaj motorcycle. The suspect, who fled to Benue State, has been arrested, and the stolen vehicle recovered.” She added that the Crime Branch is conducting further investigations, with updates to follow. Traders in Masaka, located in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, are grappling with immense losses following a devastating fire outbreak that consumed the local market on Friday around 10 p.m. Traders Share Their Painful Losses In interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, traders recounted the heartbreaking aftermath of the fire, revealing financial ruin, destroyed goods, and an urgent need for assistance. Ahmed Ayuba, a trader, expressed profound despair over his situation:“I’m devastated. All my goods were burnt to ashes, leaving me with nothing. Many of these items were already paid for, so not only have I lost money, but I’m now in debt. The government must step in to help us.” John Uche, an electronics dealer, revealed that the chaos of the fire also led to widespread looting:“I lost everything, including the money I kept in my shop. I had purchased goods with a bank loan, and now it’s all gone. To make matters worse, some people took advantage of the situation to steal what was left.” Zainab Usman, a tailor and cold drinks vendor, said her losses amount to over three million naira:“My shop was completely affected, and I don’t know how I’ll recover. We urgently need government intervention to help us rebuild.” For Victoria Ellas, a foodstuff seller, the situation is even more dire. She disclosed losing goods worth over five million naira and shared her struggle as a widow:“My husband passed away last year, and I’ve been struggling to make ends meet. Now, everything I’ve worked for has been destroyed. I’m pleading with the government to assist us.” Desperation and Helplessness in the Aftermath Other traders echoed similar sentiments. Ifeoma Eze described the helplessness she felt watching her livelihood go up in flames:“By the time we arrived, the entire market was engulfed in fire. We could only stand and watch as our goods burned. I couldn’t save a single item from my shop. This has left many of us in shock, and some traders are now hospitalized.” A Call for Urgent Intervention The traders are united in their plea for immediate government support to help them recover from the tragedy. With millions of naira in goods lost and lives thrown into turmoil, they urgently need assistance to rebuild their businesses and restore their livelihoods.
