Rhapsody of Realities January 5th 2025, YOU RECEIVED SOMETHING WHEN YOU BELIEVED

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). The most beautiful part of the Gospel is not only that Jesus bore our sins and sacrificed Himself for us, but that He gave us something in return—eternal life. One of the most well-known verses in the Bible is John 3:16 and it says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This means anyone who believes in Jesus Christ receives eternal life. It’s a guarantee! The moment you believe in Jesus, you have it. You don’t have to wait for it or hope for it; you have it immediately. John 6:47 says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” It’s not a promise of something to come in the future. If you believe, you already have it! Often, I ask people, “Do you believe in Jesus?” and some would say yes. Then I’d say, “Did you receive anything when you believed?” I found that most weren’t sure. They weren’t taught that something extraordinary happened as a result of their believing in Jesus. The Master was clear: “…He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” 1 John 5:11-12 says, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” Notice the tenses: if you have Jesus Christ, you have eternal life. So, don’t pray for eternal life. The 13th verse is absolutely remarkable; it says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” (1 John 5:13). God wants you to know that you have eternal life. This knowledge changes everything. When you know that you have eternal life, it impacts the way you live. You no longer live in fear or uncertainty but in confidence and victory. Hallelujah! PRAYERDear Father, I thank you for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. I walk in the consciousness of this life, living boldly and confidently, knowing that I am secure in Christ. Thank you for this precious gift that changes lives and empowers men to live in victory, prosperity and health every day, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. FURTHER STUDY|| 1 John 5:11-13 NIVAnd this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. || || John 3:36 NKJVHe who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” || || John 5:24Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. || READ ALSO: DAILY AFFIRMATIONS: Blessed be the Lord who daily loads me with benefits, even the God of my salvation! Poultry Farmers Lament Losses as Unsold Chicken Stocks Pile Up After Holidays

Poultry farmers in Nigeria face significant losses as unsold chicken stocks pile up after the holidays. Poor sales during Christmas and New Year highlight the urgent need for economic reforms and government support for the poultry industry. Nigerian poultry farmers are facing massive losses after experiencing poor sales of chicken during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. In an exclusive interview, Dr. Onallo Akpa, Director General of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), highlighted the struggles of poultry farmers, citing economic challenges and reduced purchasing power as major factors that discouraged families from buying chicken. Preparation for the Festive Season Poultry farmers entered the festive season with high hopes, expecting robust sales as families traditionally include chicken in their holiday celebrations. Investments in broiler production skyrocketed, especially among small-scale backyard poultry farmers, despite the high costs of Day-Old Chicks (DOCs) and poultry feed. Dr. Akpa noted that almost every poultry producer, regardless of scale, stocked broilers in anticipation of high demand. “The belief was that, no matter the circumstances, families would prioritize buying chicken for Christmas and New Year celebrations,” he explained. Challenges Faced by Farmers Unfortunately, the reality fell short of expectations. Over 50% of the broilers produced for the holidays remained unsold due to the declining purchasing power of Nigerians. Families, struggling to meet basic needs, deprioritized poultry meat in favor of more affordable food options. “Poultry farmers are now grappling with unsold stock, which adds to their costs as they continue feeding the birds without corresponding sales,” Dr. Akpa revealed. This situation has left many farmers facing severe financial losses, with some contemplating shutting down their operations entirely. Impact on the Poultry Industry The poor sales during the holiday season have had devastating consequences for the poultry sector. The livelihoods of families who rely on small-scale poultry farming are being threatened, while confidence in the industry has taken a significant hit. Many farms are closing down due to unsustainable production costs and diminished demand. Dr. Akpa stressed that the cost of production, compounded by the economic hardship faced by consumers, has created a dire situation for the poultry industry. A Path Forward in 2025 Despite the challenges, Dr. Akpa remains hopeful. He emphasized the need for the government to prioritize the agricultural sector, particularly poultry farming, which employs over 25 million Nigerians directly and indirectly. “To revive the industry, there must be a focused effort on boosting the economy and addressing critical issues in agriculture,” Dr. Akpa suggested. He also called for policies that support nutrition and food security, highlighting the vital role of poultry in achieving these goals. Conclusion The struggles faced by Nigerian poultry farmers during the 2024 festive season highlight the urgent need for economic reforms and targeted interventions in the agricultural sector. Without swift action, the livelihoods of millions of Nigerians and the nation’s food security could be at risk. Edo: PDP and Okpebholo Clash Over Control of Local Governments

Explore the escalating clash between Governor Okpebholo and the PDP over local government suspensions in Edo State. Uncover the legal, political, and democratic implications of this intense battle. The political atmosphere in Edo State remains tense as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Monday Okpebholo face off over control of two key local government areas. This conflict has brought the autonomy of local governments and the influence of governors into sharp focus, particularly following recent legal developments. Suspension of Local Government Chairmen The clash intensified when the Edo State House of Assembly suspended the chairmen and vice-chairmen of all 18 local government councils over alleged gross misconduct and insubordination. The suspension followed a letter from Governor Okpebholo requesting this action. However, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, clarified that elected local government officials could not be removed without due process, prompting a legal standoff. Supreme Court Judgment and Legal Restraints A Supreme Court ruling granting financial autonomy to local governments further complicated the situation. Following this, the Edo State High Court issued an order restraining the government from implementing the suspensions. Justice Efe Ikponmwonba adjourned the case to January 17, 2025, maintaining the status quo until the motion is resolved. Defections and Political Shifts Despite the legal hurdles, two local government chairmen, Edosa Enowoghomenma (Ovia South West) and Dickson Ahonsi (Owan West), along with their councillors, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This move followed earlier reports of impeachment and alleged illegal actions against other chairmen. The chairman of the PDP in Edo State, Dr. Tony Azeigbemi, accused the APC-led government of undermining democracy and using non-state actors to block the suspended chairmen from accessing their offices. He warned that the situation could lead to chaos if left unresolved. APC Responds In response, Acting Chairman of the APC in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, defended the suspension, stating it was necessary to maintain order and stability. He urged all parties to focus on constructive dialogue and uphold democratic values. Implications for Local Government Autonomy The ongoing conflict underscores the broader struggle over local government autonomy in Nigeria, highlighting the tension between the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the powers wielded by state governors. Analysts believe the resolution of this crisis could set a precedent for local government governance nationwide. UN Criticizes Israel for Ceasefire Violation as Hezbollah Warns of Growing Frustration

UNIFIL accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire with Hezbollah, sparking warnings from Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem about growing frustration over repeated breaches. The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has accused Israel of breaching the 2006 Security Council resolution underpinning its ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. The fragile truce, which began on November 27, 2024, has faced increasing tension as both sides continue to exchange allegations of violations. UNIFIL reported Saturday that Israeli forces demolished a blue barrel marking the withdrawal line in Labbouneh and an observation tower belonging to the Lebanese Armed Forces near a UNIFIL post. These actions, according to the peacekeeping force, constitute a “flagrant violation” of Resolution 1701 and international law. The ceasefire terms require the Lebanese army to deploy alongside UNIFIL in southern Lebanon, while Israeli forces gradually withdraw within a 60-day timeframe. Hezbollah, meanwhile, is expected to retreat north of the Litani River and dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in the region. Despite these agreements, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has expressed frustration over Israeli actions, warning that the group’s patience is wearing thin. “We have shown restraint to give the ceasefire a chance, but that does not mean we will wait the full 60 days,” Qassem stated. In late December, UNIFIL voiced concerns about ongoing damage caused by the Israeli military in southern Lebanon. Israel defended its airstrikes in the area, claiming they were conducted to neutralize potential threats in line with the ceasefire terms. The situation remains precarious, with Qassem emphasizing that Hezbollah will determine the appropriate time to respond if violations persist. 8 Financial Mistakes to Avoid in 2025

As 2025 approaches, managing your finances wisely is critical, especially given the unpredictability of Nigeria’s economy. Avoiding these common financial mistakes can help you move from merely surviving to thriving financially. Here’s a look at eight financial mistakes to steer clear of in 2025. 1. Taking Unnecessary Loans Loans may seem appealing for quick financial fixes, but unnecessary borrowing can lead to excessive debt. High-interest rates and hidden fees can quickly make repayment overwhelming. Before taking out a loan, evaluate whether it’s essential and ensure it aligns with your financial goals. Always ask yourself, “Do I truly need this?” 2. Mixing Personal and Business Finances Combining your personal and business accounts can create confusion and hinder accountability. Maintain separate accounts for personal and business expenses to ensure transparency. If your business is your primary income source, pay yourself a salary and manage your personal finances separately. This practice helps avoid financial complications in the long run. 3. Investing Without Proper Understanding Investing is an excellent strategy for wealth building, but diving into investments you don’t fully understand can backfire. Whether it’s stocks, real estate, or mutual funds, conduct thorough research, assess risks and benefits, and consult professionals. Avoid falling for “get-rich-quick” schemes and focus on building knowledge to make informed decisions. 4. Confusing Saving with Investing While savings accounts provide security, they may not keep up with inflation. Investing, on the other hand, can grow your wealth through compounding returns. Allocate funds toward appropriate investment options, such as stocks or mutual funds, for long-term goals like retirement or buying a home. Consult financial experts to diversify your portfolio effectively. 5. Neglecting an Emergency Fund Unexpected expenses—such as medical bills or job loss—can derail your finances if you don’t have an emergency fund. Aim to save 12–18 months’ worth of living expenses in a separate, easily accessible account. This reserve will provide peace of mind and reduce your reliance on loans during tough times. 6. Living Paycheck to Paycheck Spending your entire income without saving leaves you vulnerable to financial emergencies. Reduce non-essential expenses like dining out or unused subscriptions and prioritize savings. Explore additional income sources, such as freelancing or turning a hobby into a side hustle, to build financial security. 7. Ignoring Budgeting Without a budget, it’s easy to lose track of your spending and savings. Create a detailed budget that outlines your income sources and allocates funds for necessities, fixed expenses, and savings goals like retirement or homeownership. Writing down your income and expenses helps you maintain control over your finances and make smarter spending decisions. 8. Overlooking Inflation Inflation erodes the purchasing power of your money over time. Protect your finances by investing in assets that grow faster than inflation, such as stocks or real estate. Simply saving money isn’t enough; make your money work harder to maintain its value. Key Takeaway Managing your finances requires patience, discipline, and informed decision-making. By avoiding these eight mistakes, you can build a strong financial foundation and achieve growth in 2025. Every smart financial choice you make today contributes to a more secure future.
