A major fire outbreak occurred on Sunday when a petrol tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exploded at Iyana-Isolo, heading towards Oshodi, Lagos. The sudden incident triggered panic among residents, motorists, and business owners along the busy corridor, with fears that the raging flames could spread and result in a large-scale disaster. According to reports, the tanker overturned while in motion, leading to an immediate explosion. The fire rapidly engulfed the vehicle and spread to at least four other parked trucks, leaving the area in chaos. Eyewitnesses at the scene disclosed that the inferno could have escalated into a severe catastrophe if not for the swift intervention of emergency responders. Swift Response from Lagos Authorities The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, promptly mobilised teams to the accident scene. Officers from Aswani, Ilasa, and Mushin police divisions, as well as personnel of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, were also deployed to support the operation. LASTMA officials quickly cordoned off the affected road, diverted traffic from the danger zone, and provided reinforcement from adjoining zones to strengthen the firefighting effort. This rapid and coordinated response helped bring the situation under control before it spread further. Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the incident. He noted that the absence of fatalities was due to the effective coordination among state emergency agencies and the professionalism displayed by first responders. Warnings and Safety Appeal Bakare-Oki further emphasized the need for articulated vehicle drivers, particularly those operating petrol tankers and heavy-duty trucks, to avoid reckless speeding. Preliminary investigations suggested that excessive speed and poor handling contributed to the accident. He also urged residents and commuters to always use the LASTMA toll-free hotline 080000527862 to report traffic-related emergencies for quick intervention. According to him, LASTMA remains fully prepared to safeguard lives, protect property, and ensure traffic safety across Lagos. In his words: “LASTMA is committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring safe and sustainable traffic management across Lagos State.” The incident has once again drawn attention to the dangers of tanker accidents in Lagos and the critical importance of road safety awareness for both commercial and private drivers.
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has openly stated that he, alongside other top opposition leaders such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, possesses the political strength and insider knowledge to dislodge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking during a live interview on Channels Television on Sunday, El-Rufai stressed that his deep involvement in the founding of the APC gives him an edge in understanding its weaknesses and strategies. According to the former governor, his role in the party’s creation makes him confident that he can work with other political heavyweights to retire both Tinubu and the ruling party. “We were the ones that built the APC. We know exactly where the dead body is buried. Similarly, individuals like Atiku Abubakar understand where the PDP’s weaknesses are buried. With this combined knowledge, we are in a strong position to challenge the APC effectively. We don’t necessarily need a brand-new group of people from outside the system to take on APC,” El-Rufai declared. He went further to criticize the current administration, pointing out that under President Tinubu, Nigeria’s economy has worsened, while security challenges have intensified rather than improved. Recent political alignments further emphasize this agenda. Reports from LMSINT MEDIA highlight that El-Rufai, Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and other influential figures have thrown their support behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This coalition aims to present a united opposition front strong enough to unseat the ruling party in 2027. The former Kaduna leader’s statements have since sparked heated debates across political circles, as Nigerians continue to question whether the coalition can truly end APC’s dominance after nearly a decade in power.
The Federal Government has emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains firmly committed to fairness, justice, and inclusivity in the allocation of infrastructure projects, appointments, and national opportunities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. According to a statement released by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the government dismissed speculations suggesting marginalization of certain regions, stressing instead that the Tinubu-led administration has consistently pursued balanced development and equitable distribution since assuming office. The statement highlighted that capital projects under President Tinubu’s leadership have been fairly allocated, ensuring that no region is treated as secondary or left behind. Beyond the ministries, departments, and agencies executing developmental works, each of the six zones now has a Regional Development Commission to drive growth and economic expansion tailored to local needs. Major Highway and Rail Projects The government pointed out that flagship infrastructural works demonstrate this balance. For instance: This deliberate distribution, the government stressed, ensures that no part of Nigeria is excluded from national development. Simultaneous projects are ongoing nationwide, covering highways, bridges, railways, and energy infrastructure. Specifically, light rail projects worth ₦150 billion in Kano and ₦100 billion in Kaduna have secured funding, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving public transportation. Meanwhile, Lagos and Ogun States’ metroline projects further strengthen Nigeria’s urban light rail network. Collectively, these projects are expected to generate more than 250,000 jobs nationwide, directly boosting employment opportunities. Focus on Human Capital and Social Development The administration has also revived efforts to rehabilitate the Eastern Corridor rail line from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri. Over 1,000 primary health care centres have been upgraded nationwide, signaling the government’s determination to enhance human capital and social infrastructure. Regional Distribution of Projects Data from the government indicates the following allocations: Legacy Road Projects under Tinubu’s Administration The federal government listed major road projects currently underway: From the total length of these projects, 52% are situated in the North and 48% in the South. Other Major Projects in the North Key Projects in the South Notable Projects in the Southeast Developments in the South-South
Former Nigerian First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has firmly rejected the idea of returning to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, stressing that what she desires most at this stage of her life is peace. Speaking in response to ongoing speculations surrounding her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, and the 2027 general elections, Mrs. Jonathan stated that the current challenges facing Nigeria are overwhelming. According to her, anyone who has left such a position of power should count it as God’s grace and focus on living in peace. Quoting her words, The Guardian reported that she said: “The distress of Nigeria is so much that if God manages to bring you out of it, you should glorify Him. Why do you want to go back there? I need peace. My peace is enough.” Her statement comes amid increasing pressure on former President Goodluck Jonathan to declare his interest in the 2027 presidential election. Political observers suggest that some individuals and groups within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are working behind the scenes to persuade him to run. Adding to the discourse, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga recently advised Jonathan to disregard those urging him to contest again, reminding the public of his defeat in the 2015 general elections. Onanuga cautioned that returning to that path could expose Jonathan to unnecessary political stress. Currently, while rumors continue to spread regarding Jonathan’s possible return to politics, the former president himself has not made any official declaration on whether he will be on the ballot in 2027. Patience Jonathan’s remarks reflect a personal decision to prioritize peace of mind over political ambition, sending a clear message that she has no intention of going back to the Presidential Villa regardless of the political pressure surrounding her husband.
Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has clarified his relationship with his successor, Governor Uba Sani, stating that the current Kaduna leader is not his personal friend but rather his mentee. El-Rufai made this statement on Sunday during an interview on Politics Today, a popular political programme on Channels Television. He emphasized that contrary to speculations, there is no rift between him and Governor Sani, but that he reserves the right to provide constructive criticism when necessary. The former governor explained that the role of government is to serve the people and advance the nation, noting that loyalty should not prevent one from speaking out when things go wrong. In his words: “The purpose of government is to deliver results for the progress of the citizens and the country. Even if my son or father is president or governor, if I believe he is not doing the right thing, I have the right to voice my disagreement or criticism.” El-Rufai further highlighted that Uba Sani is among the many individuals he has mentored over the years, stressing that one of his biggest life achievements is raising, guiding, and elevating people to positions of leadership and influence. He added: “Yes, Uba Sani is one of my mentees. I have developed and mentored many people. My greatest pride in life is that I have supported and encouraged individuals to achieve greatness, sometimes even beyond me. I am extremely proud of that. However, if a person I mentored begins to derail or takes actions that are not right, I cannot be stopped from speaking or expressing my disagreement, regardless of my role in supporting their rise.” El-Rufai’s comments come amid speculations about disagreements with the present administration in Kaduna, but he insists that his input is constructive and should be seen as guidance rather than opposition.
Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has openly accused his successor, Governor Uba Sani, of being behind the violent disruption that occurred on Saturday, during which he and several opposition figures in Kaduna were attacked. According to reports by LMSINT Media, the incident unfolded during the official inauguration of a transition committee organized by opposition parties in Kaduna State. The event turned chaotic when a group of suspected political thugs invaded the venue, causing disorder, destroying properties, and physically attacking attendees. Allegations by El-Rufai Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, El-Rufai alleged that there is concrete proof linking Governor Uba Sani to the attack. “I have evidence; Kaduna State Governor is behind Saturday’s attacks. I will submit evidence to the IGP and other authorities if they care to investigate,” El-Rufai stated. He emphasized that the political violence was not spontaneous but rather coordinated, insisting that he would make his evidence public if necessary. Criticism of Security Forces The former governor also expressed disappointment in Nigeria’s security system, particularly the police force, which he described as ineffective in handling the situation. According to him, security operatives were present at the venue but allegedly stood by while opposition members and their supporters came under assault. “The policing system has collapsed in Nigeria,” he lamented, stressing that law enforcement officers watched as political thugs carried out the attacks without intervention. Political Tensions in Kaduna This development highlights the growing political tension in Kaduna State, with allegations of violence, intimidation, and suppression of opposition voices becoming a recurring theme in Nigeria’s democratic landscape. Analysts believe that this incident could deepen political divisions in the state if not properly addressed.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD …Declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead (Romans 1:4). The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Now, that is an extraordinary statement because Jesus said so Himself, and when others referred to Him as the Son of God, He didn’t deny; He affirmed it. But what does “Son of God” actually mean? I’ve explained it several times, but it bears repeating. Son of God doesn’t mean someone born by God in a literal sense. “Son of God” means God in human flesh. So, when Jesus said He was the Son of God, the Jewish people around him understood exactly what He meant. They were angry because they recognized that “Son of God” signifies God becoming a human being. Therefore, they accused Jesus of blasphemy, saying, “You, being a man, make yourself equal with God.” But that’s precisely who Jesus is, and His resurrection from the dead proves it. God became a man, took on flesh and lived among us to save us, that we might also become sons of God: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). He brought us salvation and eternal life so that we can live like Him and be in fellowship with God. Now we can relate to God as His beloved children. We can talk to Him and He talks to us. He brought us into His class. He’s made us like Himself. 1 John 4:17 says, “…as He is, so are we in this world.” Now we too have become sons of God: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…” (1 John 3:1). Hallelujah! PRAYERDear Father, thank you for the revelation of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. He is God manifested in human flesh, and through His resurrection, you gave me eternal life and union with you. I live in the consciousness of this divine relationship, walking in bold fellowship and communion with you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. FURTHER STUDYJohn 1:14 KJVAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 10:30-36 KJVI and [my] Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 1 Timothy 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Banco Central do Brasil (Brazil’s Central Bank) have initiated fresh dialogues to enhance economic and financial collaboration between Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, and Brazil, Latin America’s biggest market. During the meeting, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso highlighted that Brazil’s large Afro-Brazilian community—considered the biggest population of African descent outside the African continent—presents not only strong cultural ties but also a significant opportunity to increase remittance flows between Nigeria and Brazil. The discussion took place on the sidelines of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to Brazil and was part of a wider working mission designed to strengthen institutional and technical cooperation with the South American nation. Cardoso emphasized that both countries stand to gain substantially through knowledge-sharing and collaboration in digital finance, payments infrastructure, fintech innovation, and mobile money services. He stated: “Nigeria is building a stronger, more resilient financial system aimed at attracting capital, leveraging diaspora remittances, and creating a stable environment that encourages sustainable trade and investment.” The CBN Governor further explained that Brazil’s vast experience in financial inclusion policies offers Nigeria valuable lessons, while Nigeria’s rapidly growing fintech industry can also share innovative approaches that could benefit Brazil. “Brazil’s expertise in driving financial inclusion provides critical lessons, just as Nigeria’s fintech ecosystem offers insights and solutions that can be adapted in Brazil,” Cardoso remarked. On his part, Gabriel Muricca Galípolo, President of Brazil’s Central Bank, welcomed the dialogue and reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to broadening financial cooperation with Nigeria. He described the engagement as a strategic step toward promoting financial stability, economic resilience, and mutual prosperity between the two nations. Beyond the high-level talks, the Nigerian delegation participated in several technical sessions with Brazilian counterparts. These discussions covered monetary policy frameworks, financial stability mechanisms, and regulatory cooperation strategies aimed at aligning both countries’ financial systems for future collaboration. The CBN Governor was accompanied by directors overseeing currency operations, financial policy regulation, and monetary policy, underscoring the importance Nigeria attaches to the partnership. This emerging partnership between Nigeria and Brazil signals a new era of financial diplomacy, with potential benefits for trade, remittances, fintech growth, and diaspora engagement.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has successfully regained control of the political structure in Rivers State following his prolonged rift with his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara. On Saturday, Wike reestablished his dominance during the local government elections organized by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state. The polls marked a new chapter after months of political turmoil that destabilized Rivers politics. Background of the Political Crisis Last year, at the height of the Rivers State political conflict, Governor Fubara conducted a controversial local government election. His loyalists, running under the Action Peoples Party (APP), swept through the polls, securing victory in 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions. However, this victory was short-lived. On February 28, 2025, the Supreme Court nullified the election after an appeal by the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a ruling delivered by Justice Jamilu Tukur, the apex court held that the election violated an earlier Federal High Court order, which had barred RSIEC from holding council elections until the voter register was updated. Suspension of Fubara and Tinubu’s Peace Deal As tensions escalated, President Bola Tinubu intervened on March 18, 2025, declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State. He suspended Governor Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months in a bid to restore stability. A reconciliation meeting was later held at the Rivers State Government House, with President Tinubu brokering peace between Wike and Fubara. Reports confirmed that part of the agreement was to reinstate Wike’s loyalists into the local government system. This settlement eventually led to the fresh elections conducted last weekend. How Wike’s Loyalists Took Back Power Ahead of the new elections, Wike’s allies, many of them former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members, defected to the APC faction led by Chief Tony Okocha. They secured APC tickets to contest for chairmanship positions, a move political analysts believe positions Wike to dominate both APC and PDP structures before the 2027 general elections. According to reports, candidates linked to Wike ran under the APC in 20 LGAs, while three contested on the PDP platform—particularly in Obio-Akpor (Wike’s base), Port Harcourt, and Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni. Although official results were yet to be released, it was evident that Wike’s loyalists were in firm control. Fubara and His Supporters Boycott Polls Governor Fubara, who is expected to return to office on September 18, 2025, was absent during the exercise. His close allies, including Chief of Staff Edison Ehie and Secretary to the State Government Dr. Tammy Danagogo, also refrained from participating. The 23 former local government chairmen removed by the Supreme Court equally boycotted the polls, further clearing the path for Wike’s camp. One of Fubara’s loyalists, speaking anonymously, said there was “no need to waste time voting since the winners were already known.” He also revealed that Fubara, currently out of the country, accepted the power shift as part of the peace agreement with Wike and President Tinubu. According to him, “Governor Fubara believes peace is more important than holding on to power. He was willing to sacrifice even his position for stability in Rivers State. But it is unprecedented that a sitting governor can be suspended by the president.” Election Apathy and Voter Frustration Despite the political maneuvering, the election witnessed low voter turnout across Rivers State. By mid-morning in Obio-Akpor LGA’s Ward 17 Unit 054, no voter had shown up. Residents expressed frustration, alleging electoral malpractice. A voter, Wisdom Kagbara, claimed ballot papers were being thumb-printed for APC candidates. Another resident, Grace Agba, said most citizens did not see the need to vote, as results had allegedly been predetermined. Many described the exercise as “a selection, not an election,” criticizing the process as a waste of resources since Wike’s victory was seen as inevitable following the agreement brokered at the national level
Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Kola Omotoso, has found himself at the center of controversy after a late-night conversation with fellow contestant Dede on Friday sparked outrage among fans and social media users. The discussion, which was caught on camera and later circulated across different platforms, appeared to be a casual exchange between the two housemates. However, a section of the viewing audience interpreted Kola’s comments and body language as overstepping personal boundaries. Within hours, the short clip went viral, dominating social media conversations and drawing mixed reactions. While some fans argued that the interaction was harmless, others accused Kola of inappropriate conduct. Strong and damaging labels such as “simp,” “predator,” and “rapist” quickly trended, amplifying the backlash against him. In an attempt to set the record straight, Kola’s family and management team released an official statement on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account the following day, Saturday. The statement condemned the negative narratives, insisting that the housemate had shown nothing but respect for women in the house and had not violated any of Big Brother’s rules. According to the family, the circulating claims were “unfounded, malicious, and harmful” to Kola’s reputation. They warned that continuous defamation of his character would not be tolerated. The statement further emphasized that the family was prepared to initiate legal proceedings against individuals, blogs, or platforms found guilty of spreading unverified or damaging information. “We wish to categorically state that the defamatory claims being circulated about Kola are false, misleading, and dangerous. At no point has he violated the rules of the show or disrespected his fellow housemates. We strongly urge the public and media outlets to refrain from promoting such damaging remarks. Failure to do so will compel us to seek legal remedies,” the statement read. This controversy highlights the increasing role of social media in shaping public opinion during reality shows like BBNaija, where housemates are constantly under the microscope. While the show thrives on drama and heated conversations, the consequences of online narratives can escalate quickly, impacting not just the housemates but also their families outside the house. For now, fans await further clarification from Big Brother Naija organizers on whether any disciplinary action will be taken or if the issue will simply fade as the season progresses.
Manchester United head coach, Ruben Amorim, has shared the real reason behind his decision not to include star striker Benjamin Sesko among the early penalty takers during their Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town in midweek. The Red Devils suffered a shocking defeat to the League Two side after a dramatic 12-11 penalty shootout loss on Wednesday, which knocked them out of the competition. Despite being signed for a massive £66 million transfer fee, Sesko was only seen stepping up during the 11th spot-kick, which raised eyebrows among fans and pundits. One of the strongest criticisms came from Gabriel Agbonlahor, a former Aston Villa forward, who harshly described the Slovenian striker as a “coward.” According to him, a forward of Sesko’s quality and price tag should not have avoided taking responsibility earlier in the shootout, especially in a game of such magnitude against a lower-league side. However, Amorim cleared the air in his post-match reaction after United’s weekend victory over Burnley. Speaking to Manchester Evening News, the Portuguese tactician explained that Sesko had to be kept out of the first set of penalty takers due to physical limitations. “He ended the Grimsby game with cramps and was really at the limit. That’s why we protected Ben from the penalties,” Amorim stated. Following that disappointment, Manchester United bounced back strongly on Saturday with a thrilling 3-2 win against Burnley at Old Trafford. The victory not only marked their first league win of the season but also gave Amorim his 7th win since taking charge of the Red Devils in 2024. This decision highlights Amorim’s man-management style, prioritizing the fitness and confidence of his key players even during tense situations. While fans may question his choices, the manager’s explanation shows that protecting a player’s health sometimes outweighs public perception.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has reaffirmed his commitment to Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray, making it clear that he intends to stay at the club for many years, LMSINT MEDIA reports. The 26-year-old forward officially completed a permanent move to RAMS Park earlier this month from Serie A giants Napoli, where he had previously enjoyed significant success. His transfer has been highly celebrated by Galatasaray fans, especially after the impact he made during his loan spell last season. During his loan period, Osimhen quickly became a fan favorite, winning the admiration of supporters with his goal-scoring ability and relentless fighting spirit. That connection has only grown stronger since his official return. On Saturday night, the Super Eagles star was once again decisive, finding the back of the net in Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over Caykur Rizespor at RAMS Park under the management of Okan Buruk. With this goal, Osimhen has now registered two goals in his last two appearances for the Turkish champions, showing his consistency and sharpness in front of goal. Speaking after the match, Osimhen expressed his joy and pride at being back at Galatasaray, declaring his long-term commitment to the club. “It feels incredible to be back here. The fans, the management, and everyone at the club wanted me, and I am finally home. This was my desire for a long time, and now I am here for good. I see myself at Galatasaray for many years to come,” Osimhen told the club’s official website. The Nigerian international’s declaration has further strengthened the belief of Galatasaray supporters that he will play a vital role in the team’s domestic and European campaigns in the coming years.
