The Ondo State Government has officially suspended three senior officials for their alleged role in a recruitment fraud linked to the recent employment exercise for teachers in the state. According to reports, the officials were accused of collecting between ₦500,000 and ₦700,000 from unsuspecting job seekers, depending on their academic qualifications, in exchange for fraudulent appointment letters. The scam was uncovered after several individuals staged a protest, claiming they were unfairly excluded from the biometric verification exercise for newly employed teachers. However, investigations later revealed that most of the protesters had presented forged employment documents, which raised suspicion. In an official statement released by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, the government clarified that the protesters were not among the more than 2,000 teachers legitimately recruited and already deployed across various schools in the state. Adeniyan explained that internal findings confirmed that the three suspended officials at the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) had conspired with external accomplices to provide fake appointment and posting letters to unsuspecting applicants in exchange for large sums of money. You’ve received the promise of the Spirit and the fullness of divine life. 2 Peter 1:3 tells us that His divine power has “…given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” Every blessing you can ever imagine, anything good that you can ever contemplate in Christ Jesus, they’re already your present-hour possessions. Sadly, due to their ignorance of this reality, some Christians live as though they’re still trying to obtain what God has already given to them. They pray and cry for what they should simply acknowledge and receive by faith. You were born into an incorruptible inheritance. All things are yours now: “Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours” (1 Corinthians 3:21-22). Former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and 2023 presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, has revealed that the inability of opposition candidates to form a united front in the 2023 general election gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the needed advantage to secure victory. According to him, the disunity among Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) ultimately weakened the opposition bloc. He emphasized that the fragmentation of votes was a decisive factor that handed Tinubu his win under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Opposition Votes Could Have Changed the Outcome In an interview with The Sun, Ohuabunwa stated that if the votes garnered by the three major opposition figures had been combined, the results would have been different. He stressed that the collective votes of Obi, Atiku, and Kwankwaso nearly doubled those of President Tinubu in 2023, which shows that unity could have significantly altered the political landscape. “If those votes were merged, Tinubu would not have emerged victorious,” Ohuabunwa noted, highlighting the critical role of coalition politics in Nigeria’s democracy. He maintained that ensuring mental stability is essential for the success of any marital union. In addition, he advised parents to carefully investigate the character and background of suitors before giving approval for marriage, noting that prevention remains better than cure in addressing marital instability. The Kano State Police Command has announced a major success in its continuous efforts to curb car theft within the state. This follows two separate incidents of vehicle theft that were swiftly addressed by law enforcement officers in recent weeks. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, explained that the breakthrough was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who ordered constant patrols and intelligence-driven security operations across Kano State. According to the police report, on August 28, 2025, at approximately 1:25 pm, a woman residing in Sharada Quarters reported a case involving her Mercedes-Benz with registration number BWR-442 Abuja. The car had been handed over to a 42-year-old mechanic, Abubakar Yakubu, for air conditioning repairs. However, instead of carrying out the repairs, the suspect absconded with the vehicle. SP Kiyawa confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, immediately deployed tactical teams to pursue the matter. The suspect was eventually tracked to Kaduna State, where investigations revealed that he sold the Mercedes-Benz and exchanged it for a Toyota Corolla, adding an extra ₦7 million to finalize the deal. Police operatives have since arrested the suspect, recovered the Toyota Corolla, and launched ongoing efforts to trace the stolen Mercedes-Benz. In a separate case that occurred on August 25, 2025, a 48-year-old man from Mariri Quarters, Kano, reported a suspicious transaction involving another Toyota Corolla. The complainant alleged that one Ibrahim Garba from Kaduna offered to sell him the vehicle for ₦2.2 million. After paying the agreed sum in full, the buyer took the vehicle for a test drive. However, during the drive, he was pursued by individuals shouting “thief,” creating doubts about the legitimate ownership of the car. Tragedy struck in Faruruwa village, Takai Local Government Area of Kano State, when a 75-year-old farmer, Salisu Sale, widely known in the community as Salisu Mai Bulo, was brutally murdered by suspected thieves who attempted to steal from his farmland. The incident occurred on Friday when the suspects reportedly went to steal sugarcane from the victim’s farm. According to family members, the elderly man confronted the intruders in an effort to protect his crops. Sadly, this act of courage cost him his life, as the attackers allegedly stabbed him multiple times in the chest and neck. Family’s Heartbreaking Discovery Speaking with LMSINT MEDIA, the deceased’s son, Haladu Salisu, described the devastating moment the family discovered his father’s remains. He explained that one of his sisters had heard the old man’s cries for help and even recognized the name of one of the attackers mentioned by the victim during his last moments. “After we recovered his body, the police arrived at the scene, took photographs, and later granted us permission to bury him. It was afterward that my younger sister revealed she had heard our father calling out one of the suspects’ names while fighting for his life,” Haladu narrated with deep grief. The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Olufemi Gbajabiamila, alongside ex-Senate President Ken Nnamani and former Speaker Yakubu Dogara, joined several other southern lawmakers in Ogun State for the 2025 Southern Legislators’ Summit. The summit, organized by Gbajabiamila, carried the theme “National Unity: Bedrock of Nation Building” and was hosted at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. Prominent political figures at the event included former Speaker Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and ex-Senate Leader Victor Ndoma Egba. Also in attendance were Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, and other distinguished personalities. During his opening remarks, the National Coordinator of the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL), Rapheal Nnanna Igbokwe, emphasized that the summit was designed as a platform for reunion, networking, and dialogue on key national concerns. He noted that the focus would be on fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development across Nigeria. According to Igbokwe: “It is a great honor to welcome all our delegates and invited guests to the 2025 Southern Summit of Former Legislators. This gathering offers another opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas, and, most importantly, lend our voices to pressing national issues. As an organized body, we remain committed to promoting peace, strengthening democracy, and ensuring national prosperity.” He further appealed for enhanced collaboration among state governments to complement the policies and efforts of the federal government. The event marks another significant moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, bringing together leaders who have contributed to shaping the country’s political history. With the summit’s emphasis on unity and nation-building, it reinforces the call for collective responsibility in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
