Arsenal have initiated negotiations to secure a deal for Francisco Trincao, a transfer target also being closely monitored by Manchester United, as part of their strategic move for manager Mikel Arteta’s squad development.
As reported by Portuguese media outlet Record, the North London club is among three Premier League teams currently in discussions with Sporting CP regarding the 25-year-old winger.
Back in April, it was revealed that Manchester United had shortlisted Trincao as a key offensive reinforcement for the upcoming summer transfer window. This interest stems from the winger’s past association with current Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, who previously coached him at both Braga and Sporting CP.
The report also highlighted that Arsenal’s scouting team has been actively evaluating Trincao’s performance throughout the current season at Sporting.
By the end of the season, Trincao will still have two years remaining on his contract with Sporting.
The Portuguese international is no stranger to English football, having gained Premier League experience during his loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2021–2022 campaign.
Trincao made a permanent switch to Sporting CP from Barcelona in 2023. However, the Catalan giants included a €25 million buyback clause valid until 2026 and retained a 50% sell-on clause as part of the transfer agreement with Sporting.
