Arsenal Hijack Eberechi Eze Transfer from Spurs in £60-68 Million Deal

Arsenal are on the brink of securing the signature of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, outmaneuvering London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in what promises to be one of the boldest moves of the Premier League summer window. The Gunners are said to have matched Eze’s previous £68 million release clause—or in some reports, struck a deal for over £60 million, with various sources citing figures in the £60–£68 million range including potential add-ons.

Tottenham had been close to completing their pursuit of the 27-year-old, but Arsenal swooped in, driven partly by concerns over Kai Havertz’s knee injury. Although he finished Arsenal’s win over Manchester United, Havertz’s absence from training raised red flags, prompting the club to act quickly.

The Athletic reports that Arsenal and Palace have reached an agreement in principle matching the now-expired release clause, putting the Gunners ahead of Spurs.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that both Eze and captain Marc Guehi remain committed to the club, at least until any transfer is finalized. Eze is expected to feature in Palace’s UEFA Conference League play-off before traveling to Arsenal for a medical.

In recent seasons, Arsenal narrowly missed the Premier League title, whereas Spurs underperformed, finishing just above the relegation zone despite having won the Europa League.
