Arsenal Consider Summer Exits: Martin Ødegaard and Seven Others Linked With Departure

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard has unexpectedly emerged as one of the players the club may consider selling during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to recent reports. The potential move is reportedly connected to the club’s need to remain compliant with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Following an active transfer window that involved several player acquisitions, Arsenal are now assessing their financial position after committing more than £268 million on new signings.

Because of that spending level, the North London club may need to offload at least one senior squad member along with a few academy graduates to ensure their finances remain balanced.

A report by The Telegraph indicates that internal discussions at Emirates Stadium have concluded that at least one first-team player could be moved on in order to avoid breaching Financial Fair Play guidelines.

In what could be viewed as a surprising development, Arsenal’s current captain Ødegaard might become available for transfer toward the end of the season.

The Norwegian midfielder still has two years remaining on his contract with Arsenal F.C., although reports suggest his perceived market value and influence have declined slightly.

As a result, the club may consider any substantial bid for the player as an opportunity to generate a significant financial return.

Meanwhile, academy products Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis‑Skelly could also depart from the squad.

Nwaneri has struggled to secure regular playing time at Emirates Stadium and was recently loaned out to Olympique de Marseille. Lewis-Skelly, on the other hand, is believed to have dropped down the selection hierarchy under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Several established players are also reportedly being evaluated as potential departures. These include Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Leandro Trossard.

Martinelli, who joined Arsenal in 2019 for around £7 million, along with defender Ben White, are being viewed internally as players who could generate substantial profit if sold.

Havertz currently has two years remaining on his deal, but the club is still considering whether to extend his contract or allow him to move on.

Meanwhile, both Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard are entering the final year of their respective contracts. This situation leaves Arsenal with a decision to either offer them new agreements or allow them to leave through a transfer.

During the most recent transfer window, Arsenal strengthened their squad by signing four notable players: Viktor Gyökeres, Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, and Piero Hincapié.

Although the club’s total revenue has risen to approximately £690.3 million, increasing wage commitments are also raising operational costs. As a result, additional player sales could become necessary to stabilize the club’s financial structure.
