In the early hours of Sunday morning, heavily armed bandits invaded Wake village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing at least eight residents and abducting an unspecified number of people.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that the armed men carried out the raid with brutal efficiency, leaving the once-peaceful community in a state of fear, grief, and devastation. Reports confirm that more than 20 victims sustained severe injuries, many of whom are currently battling for their lives in nearby hospitals.
A reliable community source informed LMSINT Media that the attackers stormed the area in large numbers, unleashing violence on innocent residents. According to the source, “The bandits arrived unchallenged and committed atrocities that led to the death of several people, the abduction of others, and the wounding of many more. The atmosphere here is tense, and people are living in fear.”
Those who lost their lives have already been laid to rest, while families of the abducted remain uncertain of their loved ones’ whereabouts. The injured victims, many of whom sustained critical gunshot wounds, are receiving urgent medical attention.
Community members have called on both the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Kaduna State Government to urgently deploy security forces in order to prevent further assaults in the region. The plea highlights the increasing insecurity challenges affecting not only Kaduna but several northern states in recent times.
The attack on Wake village underscores the ongoing security crisis in Southern Kaduna, where rural communities remain vulnerable to armed banditry, mass kidnappings, and violent crimes. Residents continue to live in fear, hoping for a swift intervention to restore peace and security.
