A notable figure in Delta State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Okiemute Okwagbe, has firmly stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no political prospects in the state. He emphasized that PDP remains the dominant party and that APC lacks the foundation to establish itself in Delta.
Okwagbe also dismissed former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, stating that he does not possess the political influence required to challenge Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
PDP’s Stronghold in Delta State
In a statement, Okwagbe reiterated that the APC has no political direction in Delta, highlighting the continuous growth and development under the PDP-led administration. He noted that Deltans have benefited from PDP’s governance and recognize the stagnation associated with APC’s leadership style.
“The APC has no footing in Delta State. The people have witnessed tangible progress under the PDP, and they understand the setbacks that APC represents. Omo-Agege must stop misleading the people and acknowledge the long-standing political supremacy of the PDP,” Okwagbe stated.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s Effective Leadership
According to Okwagbe, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been actively implementing policies that positively impact the state, earning him national and academic recognition. He cited the Arise Television and ThisDay Newspaper’s Governor of the Year Award, alongside the Honorary Doctorate Degree conferred on him by Novena University, as clear indicators of his outstanding leadership.
He added that, in contrast, Omo-Agege’s political maneuvering has been mere grandstanding, lacking substance and credibility.
APC’s Political Decline in Delta
Okwagbe further emphasized that the PDP remains unshaken in Delta’s political landscape. He believes that Omo-Agege’s aspirations are futile, as the people continue to rally behind Governor Oborevwori, who remains focused on delivering democratic dividends through the MORE AGENDA.
“As politics in Delta evolves, one thing remains unchanged—the PDP is in control while the APC struggles with declining influence. Omo-Agege is engaged in a political battle that he cannot win,” he concluded.
