A fresh fire outbreak has consumed yet another residential building in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.
According to a report by LMSINT MEDIA, the blaze occurred on Friday at Ori-Eni Apapa Ojeomo Road in the Moniya area of Ibadan. The inferno ravaged the property, resulting in the destruction of valuables estimated to be worth several millions of naira.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident on Friday.
Akinwande stated, “The firefighting team, under the leadership of ACFS Adedeji (Mrs.), responded swiftly to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that a private residential structure—a three-bedroom flat—was already engulfed in flames.
“Our team acted quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. The operation was successfully executed in collaboration with the Federal Fire Service.
“The fire was traced back to a kitchen appliance that was left plugged in and overheated, eventually igniting flammable materials nearby and causing the blaze.
“No lives were lost, though properties valued in the millions were destroyed. Thanks to prompt intervention, neighboring homes and assets were protected from further damage.”
This incident comes shortly after a similar fire gutted another residential property in Ogbomoso, just hours prior.
