Former Big Brother Naija housemate and Nigerian influencer, Tacha (Anita Natacha Akide), has etched her name into history by attaining two distinct titles from the Guinness World Records. She achieved the records for the most cosmetic makeovers in eight hours and the most cosmetic makeovers in 24 hours.
A Record-Breaking Feat
According to Guinness World Records, Tacha completed 82 makeovers in 8 hours, and then pushed on to complete a total of 144 makeovers in 24 hours. Her accomplishment broke the previous record of 111 makeovers, set by Mary Yongai of Sierra Leone.
The event was held on 11 October 2025 at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History in Lagos, Nigeria, and the challenge was staged under tough conditions: persistent heavy rain, multiple power outages, and logistical interruptions. Despite those hurdles, she carried on.
Beyond the Numbers
Each makeover included a full set of beauty procedures: foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadows, mascara, lip liner, lip gloss, finishing powder and shaped eyebrows. Tacha made a point of tailoring each look to the individual model.
In her remarks, Tacha revealed that makeup has always been her creative outlet and that she wanted to use this challenge to show that Nigerian and African women can achieve globally recognised feats. She said it was not only about records but about rewriting the narrative of what’s possible.
Why This Matters
- This achievement places her among a very select group of record-holders, raising the profile of African creatives on a global stage.
- It underscores the capacity for endurance, creativity and resilience: pushing through storms and power cuts to deliver a meaningful outcome.
- It amplifies the significance of beauty as empowerment: the models she transformed were not just participants—they were part of a larger statement about possibility and representation.
