AFCON 2025: Tunisia Reportedly Offer Eric Chelle $100,000 Monthly to Leave Super Eagles – Idah

Speculation is growing around the future of Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, following claims that he may part ways with Nigeria after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Former Super Eagles media officer, Peterside Idah, has revealed that Chelle is seriously considering a move away from the Nigerian national team, with Tunisia emerging as a strong destination.

According to Idah, the Tunisian Football Federation has presented Chelle with a lucrative financial proposal, reportedly worth $100,000 per month, in a bid to convince him to take charge of their national team.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Idah stated that discussions are already advanced and that the offer goes beyond financial benefits alone.

He explained that Tunisia’s strong position in the race for qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup could serve as an additional motivation for Chelle, who may be attracted by the opportunity to coach a team on the world’s biggest football stage.

“From what I hear, he wants to move to Tunisia,” Idah said.
“They are offering him $100,000 every month. Beyond the money, it is also about building a reputation as a coach who led a country to the World Cup.”

Chelle’s potential departure comes at a critical time for the Super Eagles, who are preparing for their final match of the 2025 AFCON tournament — a third-place playoff against Egypt, scheduled to take place on Saturday.

While the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to make any official statement regarding the matter, the report has sparked conversations among fans and analysts about continuity, stability, and the future direction of the national team.
