The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic Abuja tanker explosion that claimed multiple lives, left many injured, and destroyed valuable property at the Karu Bridge in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday night.
PDP Laments Infrastructure Decay Under APC Leadership
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, described the incident as yet another example of the worsening state of infrastructure under the current All Progressives Congress (APC) administration. He emphasized that the government’s failure to implement adequate safety measures has led to recurrent tragedies across the nation.
Ologunagba stated, “This heartbreaking incident in Abuja, the heart of Nigeria, highlights the poor management of urban infrastructure and the increasing insecurity within the Federal Capital Territory under the APC-led government.”
Demand for Comprehensive Investigation
The PDP further criticized the APC government for neglecting public safety, which has led to an alarming rise in road mishaps and disasters. The party urged the Federal Government to conduct a thorough investigation into the Abuja tanker explosion and similar past incidents across the country, stressing the urgent need for policies that will enhance road safety and prevent further tragedies.
Appreciation for Rescue Efforts
Acknowledging the swift response from emergency teams, PDP commended the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service, and concerned citizens for their prompt intervention, which helped save many lives.
The party also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
