“We suspect certain herbs that can’t withstand heat might have triggered the fire,” said the Market Managing Director, Alhaji Ahmad Salihu Shinkafi.
He added that the market authority had already banned the use of open flames inside the premises to prevent such incidents.

Alhaji Sa’adu Dahiru, the Chairman of the herbal section, expressed deep sorrow over the destruction:
“This is heartbreaking. Some of our members lost everything. One even lost ₦50,000 he had planned to deposit at the bank this morning.”
He made a public appeal to the Zamfara State Government to provide financial support to help the victims recover.
